Carlton White officiating. Burial was in the Hamburg Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mrs. Adams died Wednesday, June 25 at the Stringfellow Memorial lHospital in Anniston, Ala. She was a native of Hamburg, a resident of Monticello since 1984, a former resident of Hamburg for many years and a Baptist. Survivors include her daughter, Malinda Dean of Anniston, Ala.; her mother, Lois Roberts Vail of Springhill, Kans.; three brothers, Earl Vail of Sterlington, La., Travey Vail of Drexel, Mo., and Raymond Vail of Arma, Kans; two sisters, Thelma White of Greeley, Kans., and Geneva Page of Springhill, Kans.; two grandsons, Jeremy and Jonathan Miles both of Anniston, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Adams, and her father, Jessie Vail. Pallbearers were Jeremy Miles, Alva Lee Adams Jr., Lynn Savage, Blake Allen Christmas, Johnny Summers, Larry Savage and Linsley Adams. Honorary pallbearer was Bobby H. Adams. JOYCE BIGGS *********** Funeral services for Joyce W. Biggs, 75, of San Antonio, Texas, were held Saturday, June 28, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with the Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Burial was at Hamburg Cemetery. Mrs. Biggs died Wednesday, June 25, at her residence. She was a native of Ashley County and a resident of San Antonio since 1972. She worked in residential real estate prior to her retirement. Survivors include two sons, Daniel C. Biggs, III of Lafayette, La., and J. Clifton Biggs of San Antonio; one daughter, Jacquelyn K. DeBolt of Fort Worth, Texas; three granddaughters, Delite DeBolt of Orlando, Fla., Shana Longley of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Sunnye Forrest of Waco, Texas; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel C. Biggs; a son, Samuel J. Biggs, a brother, Fred Wilcoxon; and a sister, Adell Riley. MARGARET BRASWELL ***************** Gravaeside services flr lMargaret Nale Braswell, 95, of Crossett will be held Thursday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at Pinewood Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Rommie Cheshire officiating. Burial will follow services under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Mrs. Braswell died Monday, June 30, in a Mount Ida nursing home. A natice of McKinney, Texas, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crossett. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Margaret Pugh of Hot Springs, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. Braswell; and two sons, Harold M. Burial will be at Phillip Grove Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Collins died Saturday, June 28, in Hamburg. He was a native of Ashley County and an employee of Hamburg Leisure Lodge. Survivors include one son, James Earl Collins Jr.; one daughter, Jalessa Nicole Collins; mother, Bessie Lou Collins, all of Detroit; father, Frazier Johnson of Bastrop, La.; four brothers, Frazier Johnson Jr. of China, Bobby Lee Collis and Richard Lemont Collins, both of Detroit, and Joe L. Johnson of Little Rock; six sisters, Joyce Collins of Detroit, Pamela M. Collins of Little Rock, Marthella D. DORIS DIAMOND ************* Funeral services for Doris Nutt Diamond, 67, of Bastrop, La. will be held Thursday, July 3, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Rev. Paul Carter officiating. Burial will be at Crossroad Cemetery in Crossett. Mrs. Diamond died Tuesday, July 1, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, La. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 12. Survivors include her father, Melvin Diamond; one daughter, Linda Dumas of Bastrop; two sons, Sherman Diamond of Linville, La. and James Nutt of Bastrop; four sisters, Margaret McBroom of Bastrop, Lois Frith of Perryville, La., Lavon Bruton of Crossett and Joyce Frith of Pollock, La.; two brothers, Ronald Nutt of Dallas and Donnie Nutt of Conway; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. HAYWOOD GREEN ************* Memorial services for Haywood Edison Green, 73, of Crossett were held Sunday, June 29, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Green died Friday, June 27, at his residence. He was a native of Star City, a retiree of Georgia-Pacific Bag Mill and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Arkansas Chapter No. 47 VFW and a World War II veteran. Survivors include his wife, Marnell Edmonds Green; one son, Carl Delmon Green; one daughter, Gail Jeffers of Hamburg; one brother, Enoch Green of Mesa, Ariz., and three grandchildren, Matthew Jeffers, Rachel and Desiree. He was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Penner; and a brother, A.B. Green. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. RUTH HOOKS ********** Funeral services for Ruth Irene Hooks, 88, of Smackover were held Monday, June 30, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren with the Rev. Roy Grice Jr. officiating. Burial was at Shade Grove Cemetery at Jersey. Mrs. Hooks died Saturday, June 28, at Smackover Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a member of Assembly of God. Survivors include six sons, Merl Dean Hooks of Crossett, Joe Frank Hooks and Russell Smead Hooks, both of Smackover, Cecil Dewayne Hooks of Locus Bayon, Bill Edward Hooks of Pine Bluff and Marion Hooks of Camden; five daughters, Patsy Loomis of Norphlet, Merline Knight of Hampton, Morris Jeffreys of Crossett, Peggy Ross of Camden and Marilyn Pitts of Hot Springs; one step-son, Louis Hooks of Crossett; one step-daughter, Lois Green of Junction City; one brother, Billy Joe Dailey of El Dorado; one sister, Willie Mae Belin of Crossett; 43 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin O. Hooks. Pallbearers were Ernie Loomis, Chris Hooks, Joel Hooks, Michael Hooks, Bruce Green and Eddie Hooks. MAGGIE JOHNSTON *************** Graveside services and interment for Maggie Rose Johnston, 93, of Hamburg will be held Wednesday, July 2, at 2 p.m., at the Judson Cemetery with the Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg is in charge of arrangments. Mrs. Johnston died Sunday, June 29, at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Hamburg. She was a native of Kent, Wash., a resident of Hamburg for many years and a former resident of Monticello. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Jimmie J. Johnston of Morrilton and Clarence R. Johnston of Alameda, Calif.; one daughter, Verna Johnston O'Neal of Hamburg; one half-brother, George W. Howard of Warren; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Talbot B. Johnston; a son, Billy Fred Johnston; a granddaughter, Judity Johnston Ferguson; two brothers and three sisters. WILLARD NOLAN ************* Funeral services for Willard Nolan, 81, of Hamburg were held Saturday, June 28, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist church of Hamburg with Dr. Bobby Pennington and the Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Burial was at Pinewood Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Nolan died Thursday, June 26, at Hamburg Lesire Lodge. A native of Farmerville, La., he had been a resident of Hamburg since 1952. He was a amember of First Baptist Church of Hamburg and was a member of the J.W. Hall Sunday School Class. He wasw a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. He retired from the Mississippi River Fuel Transmission Co. in 1978 after 28 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Pearl White Nolan; one son, Johnny Nolan of Hamburg; one daughter, Sandra Johnston of Elmore, Ala.; one brother, Robert Nolan of West Monroe, La., two sisters, Connie Dumas of West Monroe and Ebelle Rogers of Farmerville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers,Jack and L.Z. Nolan; and two sisters, Sadie Dumas and Delta Nolan. Pallbearers were Joe Mack Sullivan, Ronnie LaGrone, Buddy Atkins, Jim Young, Jack Shell, Gordon Hennington, Sonny Tucker, Larry Donaldson and Teddy Hickman. ISOM SMITH ********** Isom Ganey Smith, 77, of Crossett died Tuesday, June 24, at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge, La. His remains were cremated. Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg was in charge of arrangements. He was a native of Choudrant, La. and was a Baptist. Survivors include three sons, Isom Smith Jr and Jerry Lee Smith, both of California, and Robert Lee Smith of Texas; three daughters, Dorothy Laverne Smith and Valonis S. Crockett, both of Caliafornia, and Gloria Jean Smith of Texas; seven step-children, all of California; and one sister of Crossett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Smith. STELLENE SWILLING ***************** Graveside services for Stellene Swilling of Crossett, formerly of Russellville, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville with the Rev. Charles McKamy officiating. Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville was in charge of arrangements. A memorial service was held at the First United Methodist Church in Crossett Monday, June 30, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Mrs. Swilling died Wednesday, June 25, at the Conway County Hospital in Morrilton. Mrs. Swilling was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crossett and a member of Prairie Country Club. Survivors include one daughter, Toni Nicholls of Morrilton; one sister, Mary Catherine Hargis of California; one granddaughter, Margaret Hoskins of North Little Rock; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in deathby herhusband, Ralph B. Swilling. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association of the Ashley County Sheltered Workshop. LENA TROTTER ************ Funeral services for Lena Mae Trotter, 42, were held Friday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Church of god in Christ in Hamburg with Bishop Danny Mays officiating. Burial was at Phillip Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mrs. Trotter died Monday, June 23, at Hamburg Leisure Lodge. A native of Hamburg, she had been a resident of Monticello for the past five years and was a former resident of Palm Springs, Calif. She was a member of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Hamburg and was a homemaker. Survivors include one son, Bennie Trotter of Prescott, Ariz., three daughters, Charlotte Trotter of San Bernadino, Calif., Donna Trotter of Prescott and Bernetta Trotter of Buena Vista, Ga.; mother, Eula Singleton Bridges of Crossett; one brother, Levert Franklin of Austin, Texas; one sister, Camille Stanley of Hamburg; three half-sisters Stacy Banks, Lennie Johnson and Alberta Franklin, all of California; two grandchildren and a host of aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Franklin. Pallbearers were Jessie Chappel, Willie Mays, Jessie Washington, Y.T. Singleton, Robert Davis and Martin Withers. Honorary pallbearers were uncles and nephews. SYBLE WHITE *********** Funeral services for Syble Willia White, 77, of Warren were held Friday, June 27, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren with the Revs. Michael Griffith and Larry Donaldson officiating. Mrs. White died Tuesday, June 24, at Wagnon Place Nursing Center. A native of Arkadelphia, she was a Baptist and a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Benjamin Prentiss White; one son, John D. White of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Sherry White of Warren and Susie Knight of Hamburg; three step-sons, Bobby White of Crossett, Henry "Shorty" White of Stuttgart and Don White of Hampton; one step-daughter, AnnAdams of Festus, Mo.; one brother, Roy Joe Phillips of Hot Springs; three sisters, Zelma Alexander of Little Rock, Sally Bostwick of Coyle, Okla. and Lorene Overstreet of Williamson, Ga.; six grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in deathby a son, Richard "Buddy" White. Pallbearers were Lewis Smith, James Kitchens, Bill White, Jackie Williams, David Williams and Don Baker.
