Gayle Riles officiating. Burial was at Arkadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Mrs. Baker died Friday, June 20, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was a homemaker and a member of Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Edward E. Baker of Crossett; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Billy Lee Rice Sr., Roddy Watt, Billy Buckner, Henry Kelly, Ricky Hopper and Andy Ingram. DELORIS BANKSTON **************** Funeral services for Deloris Bankston, 37, of Little Rock, were held Saturday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Parkdale with the Rev. Curtis Rideout officiating. Burial was at Second Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. She died Saturday, June 14, at University Medical Center in Little Rock. She was a native of Parkdale and had been a resident of Little Rock for the past 15 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Greater 2nd Baptist Church in Little Rock. Survivors include two daughters, LaTasha Bankston and Ladella Stokes, both of Little Rock; five brothers, Willie Gullye of Parkdale, Jessie Henson and Fred Bankston of Little Rock, Curtis Bankston of Sacramento, Calif. and James Bankston of Wilmot; four sisters, Melvin Louise Stanfield of Grandview, Mo., Pearline Robinson of Wilmot and Lillie Z. Porter and Earnestine Bankston, both of Little Rock. Pallbearers were James C. Brown, Nathaniel Henson, A.C. Campbell, Otis Anthony, Randolph Morris and Carl Vaughn. SALLIE BATES ************ Funeral services for Sallie Myrtle Bates, 80, of Crossett were held Saturday, June 21, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Larry Culbreath officiating. Burial was at Zion Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mrs. Bates died Thursday, June 19, at Summit Hospital in West Monroe, La. She was a native of Ashley County, a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ of Crossett. Survivors include two daughters, Charlene Chisham of Napa, Calif.; and Leone Wilcox, of Crossett; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Bates, one sister and four brothers. Pallbearers were Lonnie Gardner, Charles Gardner, Clyde Gardner, Bill Ricks, Dean Gardner and Bobby Gardner. Honorary pallbearer was Eddie Lyons. ESTELLE HANEY ************* Funeral services for Estelle Haney, 82, of Hamburg, were held Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with the Revs. Joel Meredith and Jerry Carter officiating. Burial was at Hamburg Cemetery. Mrs. Haney died Tuesday, June 17 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Crossett for the past 18 years and a resident of Hamburg for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Billy Joe Haney of Crossett and Don Haney, of Milam, Texas; one sister, Alta Kelley of Hamburg; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Haney; and one son, Charles. Pallbearers were Doyle Sivils, F.E. McCone, Jr., Mark Turner, and Ray, Jody and Lynn Haney. Hassler, 71, of Bastrop,La. will be held Wednesday, July 25 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of golden Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Rev. Carlton White officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop. Mr. Hassler died Monday, June 23, at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. He was a retired pulp mill operator for International Paper Co. and a member of Westside Baptist Church of Bastrop. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Lockwood of Crossett; one son, Charles M. Hassler of West Monroe, La.; three sisters, Mable Smith, Louise Cain and Fern Hill, all of Bastrop; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Hassler. Pallbearers are Bruce Hill, Darryl Lockwood, C.J. Hassler, Tommy Kendrick, Harry Walter, Phillip Lum, Wiley Graves and Scotty Lockwood. CAROLYN JENKINS *************** Funeral services for Carolyn Renae Jenkins, 30, of Hamburg, were held Wednesday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Church of Christ Holiness with the Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Burial was at Phillip Grove Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. She died Thursday, June 19, at University Medical Center in Little Rock. She was a native of Ashley County, a counselor for the State of Iowa Department of Corrections and a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ Holiness. She was a 1985 graduate of Hamburg High School and a 1989 graduate of Philander Smith College. Survivors include one son, Chimo Okoye; mother, Nadine Parker of Hamburg; grandmother, Annie Mae Love of Hamburg; seven brothers, Leander Jenkins Jr. of Lacey, James Jenkins and Emmanuel Jenkins, both of New York City, Bennie Lee Jenkins of Dermott, Tracy Webb of Crossett, James Reese of Little Rock and Larry Bankston of Hamburg; four sisters Kathy Hampton and LaTissie Parker, both of Hamburg, Sharon Caldwell of Crossett and Katharine Moore of Conway. JIMMIE MARTIN ************* Funeral services for Jimmie Dale Martin, 50, of Crossett, were held Monday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at Meridian Baptist Church with the Revs. Dan Webb and Rick Pyron officiating. Burial was at Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funereal Home of Crossett. Mr. Martin died Saturday, June 21, at his residence. He was a deacon and church treasurer for Meridian Baptist Church and was on the executive board for the Ashley County Baptist Association. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Billie Kay Martin; one son, Brian Keith Martin of Crossett; three daughters, Shana Kay Martin, Paula Rena Martin and Tanya Beth Martin, all of Crossett; mother, Florence Grace Martin of Crossett; two brothers, Thomas L. Martin of Auburn, Mich. and T. Glenn Martin of Magnolia; three sisters, Joyce E. Blocker of Bastrop, La., Helen E, Robbins of Crossett and Deannie Johnson of Jonesboro. Pallbearers were David Riles, Allen Jackson, Danny Jordan, Larry Goyne, Herman White and Randy Smith. JOSEPH MCMAHAN ************** Funeral services for Joseph Howard "Joe" McMahan, 77, of Crossett were held Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Crossett with the Revs. David Newberry and Jimmy Lewis officiating. Burial was at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Mr. McMahan died Wednesday, June 18. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett where he sang in the Golden Voices Choir, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from Georgia-Pacific Corp. after 39 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Virginia McMahan; three sons, Sam McMahan, Frank McMahan and Gary McMahan, all of Crossett; two daughters, Ruth Morgan of Albany, Ga. and Pat Burke of Monticello; one brother, Sam McMahan of Kelso; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Steven McMahan, Samuel James McMahan, Jason McMahan, Andy McMahan, Clayton Burke, Tracy Saunders and Clay Saunders. LEWIS NORRELL Jr. ***************** Funeral services for Lewis "Charlie" Norrell Jr., 68 of Hamburg will be held Wednesday, June 25, at 4 p.m. at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Lawrence Amos and Mike Hutsell officiating. Burial will be at Carlock Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Norrell died Saturday, June 21, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. A native of Ashley County, he was a lifelong resident of the Pine Hill Community and retired from the Georgia-Pacific Paper Mill. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sue Norrell; one son, Louis Douglas Norrell, of Hamburg; two steo-daughters, Beverly Rice and Versa Reed, both of Crossett; one brother, Harvey Poe of Crossett; two sisters, Iva Kate Swan and Louise Swan, both of Hamburg; give grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers are Sonny Lowry, Donnie Watt, Jumbo Mashburn, Jimmy Norrell, Johnathon Pannell and Shawn Carpenter. RIDGELL PEARSON *************** Graveside services for Ridgell "Buddy" Pearson, 80, of Fountain Hill were held Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m. at Flat Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Lawrence Amos officiating. Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pearson died Thursday, June 19, at Ashley Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Fountain Hill for most of his life and a member of Fountain Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Zee Herd of Eureka, Nev. and Muriel Bays of Danville, Ill.; seven nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Pearson Jr.; and a sister, Rita Renstrom.
