Mr. Burt died at his residence May13. He was a retired jewelry salesman, a Baptist, former employee of Texas Eastern and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Survivors include three sisters, Norma Cox of Shreveport, Nell Kleinpeter of Thibodaux, La. and Elsie Bailey of Crossett; two brothers, Felton Burt of Diboll, Texas and Neal burt of Crossett. LAWRENCE KNIGHT *************** Funeral services for Lawrence Knight, 86, of Mer Rouge, La. were held Tuesday, June 3, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with the Rev. Ron Vollmer officiating. Burial was at Flat Creek Cemetery. Mr. Knight died Monday, June 2, at Oak Wood Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge, La. A native of Ashley County, he was a resident of Mer Rouge for the past 30 years and a former resident of Hamburg, where he had been owner and operator of Knight's Cleaners. He was a member of Mer Rouge Baptist Church, a Gideon and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include three brothers, Floyd Knight of Bastrop, La., Glenn Knight of Little Rock and Norwood Knight of Perryville; three sisters, May Delle Irving, Annie Holland and Erla Garrett, all of Bastrop; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Phillips Knight; and a brother, Rudolph Knight. Pallbearers were Elva Greer, John Risher, charles Sisk, Bill and Phillip McCready and Gale Garrett. ROGER McKENZIE ************** Funeral services for Roger Aulds McKenzie, 65, of Crossett were held Friday, May 30, at 4 p.m. at Rolfe Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton White officiating. Burial was at Unity Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Mr. McKenzie died Wednesday, May 28, at Ashley Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Rolfe Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Johnson McKenzie of Monroe, La.; mother, Zettelar McKenzie of Crossett; five brothers, George McKenzie Jr., Gus McKenzie and Donnie McKenzie, all of Crossett, Ermon McKenzie of Castor, La. and Mike McKenzie of Bastrop, La.; one sister, Shirley Rivers of Shreveport, La.; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bobby, Todd, Kevin and Kenneth McKenzie. HERMAN NORWOOD SR. ***************** Funeral services for Herman Norwood Sr., 75, of Crossett, were held Monday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. B.J. Jackson officiating. Burial was at Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Norwood died Thursday, May 28, at Ashley Memorial Hospital. A native of Ashley County, he was retired from the Georgia-Pacific Plywood Mill and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. Survivors include two sons, Fredie Norwood and Willie Norwood, both of Crossett; two daughters, Mary Scott and Savannah Martin, both of Crossett; one brother, Orzell Norwood of Crossett; two sisters, Eddie Mae Norwood and Georgia Ann Jones, both of Crossett; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Norwood; a son, Herman Norwood Jr.; four brothers and one sister. Nephews served as pallbearers. EUGENE SELLERS JR. ***************** Funeral services for Eugene Sellers Jr., 65, of Crossett were held Saturday, May 31, at 1 p.m. at Union Baptist Church in Wilmot with the Rev. W. L. Plummer officiating. Burial was at Warner Grove Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funderal Home of Hamburg. Mr. Sellers died Sunday, May 25, at Ashley County Convalescent Center in Wilmot. A native of Mobile, Ala., he had been a resident of Monroe, La. for 35 years and a Crossett resident for the past 3 years. He was a member of Union Baptist Church of Wilmot. Survivors include three sons, Colby Sellers of Crossett, Oscar Lee Sellers of Wilmot and Sherman Sellers of Monroe; two brothers, Edward Rogers of Crossett and Terrance Rog4ers of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Rose Lee Brown of Bastrop, La. and Delores Whaley of Crossett; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ceohissie Sellers; and three brothers. Pallbearers were Edward Rogers Jr., Carl Whaley, Anthony Rogers, Hosie Brown, Felton Tatum Jr. and James Sellers Jr. JIMMY WELLS *********** Funeral services for Jimmy Elton Wells, 74, of Hamburg were held Friday, May 30, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Joel Meredith and John Mann officiating. Burial was at Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Wells died Tuesday, May 27, at Ashley Memorial Hospital. A native of Drew County, he had been a resident of Hamburg for most of his life and was a retired employee of the city of Hamburg. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Peterson Wells; two brothers, John Allen Wells of Lake Village and Robert L. Wells of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Pallbearers were Don Kelley, Gerald Lauhon, Kevin Smith, Frank Taylor, Don Flemming and Mitchell Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Mens Sunday School Class of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
