I have decided to keep the NDGenWeb requirements to a minimum, requiring only two, the North Dakota flag and dates and times on the queries. The recommended counter and date-last-updated are made optional although the counter may have increased significance in the future determining server costs to process hits from the sites. The date-last-updated allows me to see if there is activity at your site. If you have it you can upload your index page once per month to show activity if for no other reason. If everyone used it we could eliminate rollcall.

The other requirements are of real importance to researchers and are strongly recommended although I have decided to include them on the state page to cover all bases. This page will be used as needed to post further information consistant with the heading.

Clerk of Court - <http://sc3.court.state.nd.us/court/counties/dc_clerk/Cass.htm - NOTE: Clerk of Court does not use caps for the county

I cannot over stress the important that these links have to researchers. They are free and the Clerk of Court and Register of Deeds are maintained by the ND Supreme Court. That means this database gets an immediate update after every election, unlike links such as Broderbund which usually lags the elections by some amount.

Tim, here is the reasoning behind the table. I took the recommendations received from the State list which pretty well mirrored your thinking anyway, but it allowed me to get your name in. You may not agree to the two ND "requirements, not rules". <G>I believe you should have these two because you feel strongly about it and to show authority. If the attitude continues with my one on one inspections they will all fall in line without a squawk. If they squawk, either stand firm or take a vote. But I believe we can be too democratic with voting for new SCs and other things, just my opinion. The server costs refers to data I am working up to show how much it costs to operate my site. Kay Mason is getting me figures from Brian which can be multiplied by the number of hits to show how much it costs to provide server space, I hope. I am trying to work up a page legal neutral to satisfy our large 3100+ legal staff and still lead a researcher to Rootsweb without a direct plea for funds.

I chose black and white because this page is all business, no distractions. I downloaded your gray background because it provides continuity from your State page and is rather nice. Anyway. look it over and delete this bottom portion and/or make changes as you see fit. If any of my sneaky formatting (such as a blank cell with border) goes awry I will fix if need be.

When you have it the way you want it I will post to the State list thanking everyone and stating that Tim and I discussed the suggestions, combined them into one document which can be found at : ... if they want to view the result. Again, you have the page you asked for and your name mentioned again.

CCs will have to bookmark it so they can get to it without a hassle. I wouldn't think you would want anyone else with access.

Joe
