Augustus SLEME, a wholesale produce grocer, was
shot to death in September 1921, while in his St. Louis store. He
left a widow, Edna Jane, a son, Augustus M. SLEME,
age 4, and a then unborn child. I'd like to get a copy of any
newspaper articles relating to the shooting, and a copy of an
obituary. Suggestions as to where I might write would be
appreciated.

George Krell
I am trying to find out about my ggrandgather Gustav
Adolph KRELL. He was born abt 1851 in Germany, came to the US abt
1866 and settled in St. Louis. He married Elizabeth WEISBERG
info unknown. He was a cigar maker and had a cigar shop complete
with a cigar store indian outside (I have a picture of him in
front of his shop). He was also a singer with the St. Louis
Opera. Children: August, Lucy, Charles G., Adolph, Oscar
Pontaleon.
You now know all that I do about my ggrandfather. I really want to find out more on that part of my family. I appreciate any and all help that can be given.
My great-grandfather, Jacob SCHROLL, was born in Edenkoben, Pfalz, Germany on 17 Oct 1856 and emigrated to the U.S. in 1872. He married Elizabeth SENDFELD on 14 Nov 1882. They lived at 1117 Geyer most of their married lives and are buried in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Would like to exchange information with anyone researching either of these families.

Does anyone have any information regarding the Mayor of Maplewood, maybe around the 1930's, named Dr. Francis Edouard GUIBOR. He took an active part in getting Maplewood incorporated. He was chosen by the Progressive Party to run in the first city election and won. He went on to serve another term. I believe his medical practice was on or near Sutton Avenue. Dr. Guibor was married to Mary Ellen JONES. I believe they were from the City of St. Louis prior to moving to Maplewood.Does anyone know how I could get a copy of a newspaper article from "The Champion", (I believe a local Maplewood paper) printed sometime in the 30's or 40's? For your info. Dr. Guibor had a daughter Gertrude Maud Guibor who married George Kendric Woods ( my husband's grandparents). They also lived in Maplewood where I believe my mother in-law was born. My husband's mother, Frances Taylor Woods married (Dr.) John Francis Michaelree and they too lived in Maplewood on Gayola for a number of years before moving to Webster Groves (S. Gore).

I'm looking for information on my great-grand-father, John D.McKeown. He was born around 1838 and emmigrated from Antrim, County Antrim,Ireland and settled in St Louis around 1860. He lived at 1319 N.7th St in 1885, when my grand-father Bernard William McKeown was born. He married a Winifred Farrell of County Clare,Ireland. He was buried in the Calvary Catholic Cemetary on December 6th 1895. He also lived on Garrison Ave., but I don't know the dates. Thanks for your time

I'm looking for Mr Christian Balmer,born in Muelhausen, province Sachsen, Koenigreich, Prussia, Feb.26th,1819. Emigrated to US around 1835. Joined his father and family and moved to St Louis in 1836. Married Melinda Lyon,of St Louis, Nov.13,1852. They had five children. His brother Charles Balmer founded the old Balmer-Weber Music House in St Louis. Thank you.

Researching the family and ancestors of Robert BAY son of Hugh and Margaret BAY. Hugh BAY is in the 1791-Aug 1800 tax books of Bourbon Co.,Ky. By 1801 he had moved his family to Spanish Louisiana and bought a grant from Charles KYLE. Before 22 Feb 1803 Hugh died and before 24 May 1803 Margaret died. Robert and his wife Mary HAMILTON, daughter of Ninian Beall HAMILTON, were appointed to settle the estate of his parents 24 May 1803. Robert received several grants from the Spanish 10 1803 which.were all declared valid grants by the Boards of Land Commissioners. Looking for any detail on a missing great great grand uncle in America BACKES Philippe, Chraetien,Louis. b.19th Dec 1816 Birkenfeld (Germany) son of BACKES Adam (1792- 1868) and KESSLER Marie-Caroline (1790-1875) moved with parents from Birkenfeld to Nancy (France) around 1825 married 20th May 1844 Nancy to DEMIER Nicole b.1819, four children born in Nancy (1845-1851), boarded alone Le Havre 28 July 1851 a ship to the States (probably New York) wrote several times to his family til Jan or July 1853. According to the letters had PO Box 17 in St Louis, was travelling between Cincinnati and St Louis, trying to manufacture starch for laundery.

Surname: SCHAEFFER
Looking for a mention of Charles Schaeffer in early history of St Louis. He came with a brother to America from Alsace-Lorraine in the 1840's or 50's. Family legend says that the two brothers wanted to start a vineyard,but because there was still Indian trouble,they decided to stay in town. One started a tavern,and the other started the first bakery in St Louis. By 1860 Charles Schaeffer had moved to Davenport Iowa Don't know what happened to the brother. Any mention of Charles Schaeffer or another Schaeffer operating an early tavern or bakery in St Louis.

Looking for descendants of James Edgar and Sadie MCDONALD who lived in St Louis from approx. 1929 (possibly earlier) to James' death 1960's - 1970's. Have heard that Sadie moved back to Wisconsin after his death and has since passed on.They had two children: Douglas and Helen Jean, probably both born in the mid to late 1930's.Helen Jean apparently married an airport fire fighter and moved to Ohio- don't know her married name.
