According to the 1880 Tarrant Co., TX census, his father was from IL and mother from KY. (Names unknown) Benjamin's wife, Martha J. (maiden name and parent info unknown) was b. ca 1839 in MO. Listed on the 1880 census are the following children: Ellen J. (b. 1868), John E. (b. 1871), Annie Mae (b. 1873, my gr-grandmother), and Allice J. (b. 1876). This info would indicate that Benjamin and Martha were married ca 1860's, probably in MO. All children were born in TX, which means the family had to be in TX prior to 1868. On the same census page, there were two other Valentine families listed: Richard Valentine (b. ca 1837, MO) with family and Harris E. Valentine (b. ca 1855, MO) with family. Their relationship to Benjamin Valentine is unknown. It is believed that Benjamin Valentine served in the Civil War and that his death was ca 1906, TX.
