If you have any obituaries of your Crawford County relatives, you can
submit them here.
While scanned images are nice to have, a transcription of the obituary is just as well and easier to view on the internet. Include your e-mail address and anyone wanting a scanned copy can contact you directly
Instructions for transcribing obituaries
Type a copy of the obituary in your text editor, save to your computer, send an e-mail to Winnie Brooks and attach a copy of the file you typed and saved.
Instructions for clipping and scanning obituaries
- Proof read them to make sure they are complete and have a death date.
Many times I see obituaries continuing in another column and are being sent to me incomplete.
Some are also chopped off at the top, bottom or sides.
If they are too long, try cutting them in half and taping them along the column.
Many obituaries tell the day of death (last Thursday) but no date. I need at least the year.
After scanning, resize them so they do not appear too large or small to read
It takes a lot of my time to download large files I have to cut down and your time to upload them.
Lifesize on the screen (using an internet browser) is ideal.
Lastly, please do not request obituaries of certain persons or years
I only have what is sent to me and are usually uploaded soon thereafter.
If you would like to order an obituary book that covers years prior to 1908, see the Books
I do not have permission to do lookups in this book, but it is at a reasonable price.
You could also try the 1998 Cemetery Book as it has obituaries to 1967. See the lookup page for this.
Thanks to all contributors who have made this project possible.
