"St. Clair Township Section 24, St. Clair County, Michigan. Lat: 42° 50' 49"N; Lon: 82° 30' 51"W; 5300 block of Yankee Road, St. Clair Township, Michigan 48079. The cemetery is in St. Clair Township, St. Clair County, Michigan on the north side of Yankee Road between Alan and Bowman Roads. This is an old family cemetery which was started by the Bowman-Chaffee-Justin families in 1840.>BR>
The Bowman-Chaffee-Justin clan, settled on farms along what is now Bowman Road and Yankee Roads circa 1839. 15 young men from the family; 4 Chaffee brothers, 2 Bowman brothers, 3 Wolvin brothers and 5 Justin brothers served in the Civil War, mostly in Battery "H", 1st Michigan Light Artillery which Captain William Justin commanded. The battery was made up of mostly boys from St. Clair Township and ten are buried in the Bowman Cemetery. In July 2006 I placed new Civil War Veteran gravemarkers on all that I could locate."
