Old Flint City Cemetery
Flint, Genesee County

Tombstone Photographs

This cemetery was located at Lewis and Geneseret Streets, City of Flint, Section 8 (per information furnished by Michigan State Library).

The buried remains were removed and re-intered in AVONDALE CEMETERY, nearby in Section 8, City of Flint, by the City of Flint, to make room for re-alignment of the streets and allow the construction of a downtown motel (now known as, HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS FLINT-CAMPUS located 1150 Robert T Longway Boulevard, Flint, MI 48503).

Old Flint City Cemetery was located on Lewis Street, now named Chavez Dr.

I am 89 years of age and I presume the present generations would have little or no knowledge that Old Flint City Cemetery ever existed in Flint.
Ralph W. Cook, Meridian, Idaho (grew up in Flint, until Jan 1999)

Additional information: In the 1950's, the bodies from this cemetery were disinterred and SOME were moved to Avondale Cemetery. The are buried an a common section on the west side of the cemetery, the stones surrounding the graves in a "U" shape.
