Photograph of loggers working in Union Parish, ca. 1900

The man on the left with the blue X above his head is my gg-grandfatherCharles Willis Christian.
The man on the right sitting on the log with the blue X is his brother-in-lawA. Q. Davis. I'm not too
sure about his real name....the back of the pic says "quot Quilaquot"but I've heard other people
say "quot Quillerquot." Anyway, he was the husband of Carrie Bell Christianand they are both
buried in Union Grove Cemetery, Lillie, Union Parish.  CharlesWillis Christian is buried in Colquitt
Cem, Colquitt, Claiborne Par.  I am assuming that this picturewas taken right around the turn of the
century since they both look in their 40-50s, and probably in the Lillie/Bernicearea....at least that is
where my family lore says they worked.  Also, just look at thesize of those logs compared to the
size of the men sitting on them! Can you imagine getting those logson those wagons?  My uncle says
that they used these long poles (like levers) and rolled the logs upthe poles onto the wagons. And
those poor mules!!
