JOHNSTON Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. Fairhope, AL Joseph E. Johnston, a resident of Fairhope, AL. Passed away at his residence on Thursday, April 9, 2009. He was born March 30, 1916 in Mill Valley, CA. He is survived by Maurice, his wife of 66 years. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister in Oregon, a daughter, Jill McLemore of Fairhope AL, a son Joe of Santa Barbara, CA, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one Great-great-grandson. Joe was a World War II Veteran serving in the 807th Tank Destroyer battalion as 1st Lieutenant and was attached to Patton's 3rd army in the liberation of Metz, France. He taught theater arts at the University of Miami and University of Texas for seventeen years. He was Lead Scenic Artist at ABC T.V. Hollywood for fifteen years. After retirement, he moved to Rocky Branch, LA and created sets for the Little Theater, ballets and pageants for ten years, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He and Maurice moved to Fairhope, AL in 1994.
