(St. Martinsville [i.e. St. Martinville] La.) 1886-1948, September 01, 1900, Image 2 Death of Mrs. John Peters. N. I. Enterprise. Mrs. John Peters, the wife of the venerable manager of the Keystone plantation, died last Sunday morning at 7 o'clock. She was 75 years of age and had resided with her honored and highly esteemed husband at Keystone in St. Martin parish, for the past 22 years. Though an invalid for most of the period of her residence in our vicinity, yet to the few who had the privilege of her acquaintance she always gave evidence of most devoted Christian womanhood. Her life being shadowed with sorrow, she was debarred for many years from an active participation in social affairs, but in the closer relationship of the home circle, she ever enjoyed the friendship and affection of all about her. Mrs. Peters was buried from the Episcopal church in New Iberia on Monday, at 10 A. M., and a large number of friends followed her remains to their last resting place. Mr. Peters, who suffered the loss of his only daughter less than three years ago, is now called upon to bear a double share of bereavement. In his many afflictions, he has the sympathy and condolence of our entire community. - A Friend. source: The Weekly Iberian.
