Ogden School Before 1901

Submitted by: Nancy Blake Thompson

Tintype was passed to, Nancy Blake Thompson, daughter-in-law of the late Fannie Kelly Thompson (born in Liddieville), whose mother was Carrie Ogden Kelly (born in Liddieville), the daughter of William Tigner Ogden (also the father of Lydia, whose nickname of Liddie was given to the post office / community, Liddieville).

Was told that Carrie Ogden  is in the photo.

For a possible 'hint' of the vintage of the photo (near the turn of the century??):  Caroline Bondveal (Carrie, or sometimes Bonnie) Ogden was born in 1889.

It is my opinion this is Big Creek School opened on May 16, 1881, with

Wiley G. Doyal as the teacher.  An old report gives the names of the

pupils as Newton Williams, Alma Williams, Retta Wright, Houston Shelly,

Fannie L. Humble, Maurice Ogden, Carrie Ogden, Liddie Ogden, Emma Lea,

Anna Lea, Carrie McKenzie, Lewis Slaughter, William Humble, Katie L. Walls,

Lydia A. Walls, Harry E. McKenzie, John W. Slaughter and Lizzie Eaton.
