Egypt Community School circa1948-49

This picture is a picture of the entire school (Egypt Community Schoolcirca1948-49) near the Bayou Macon River.
At this time there was a flat to cross the river, later a low waterbridge, then a high water bridge.
This building had only two rooms to it. Only one was used to teachgrades 1,2 and 3. The teacher was Mrs. Irene Gordy, in later years Mrs.Irene Brent.
The heat was a wood stove and no electricity! The kids would go throughthe 3rd. grade there and some would go on to Winnsboro Elementary and somewould go to Lone Pine. This was before the Ward Three School was built.
