QUERIES: FRANKLIN COUNTY, KY, 1997, part 2 Bruce Slawter Thu Mar 6 15:51:19 1997 Looking for any leads on the SLAWTER FAMILY of the Frankfort/Franklin County KY area -- particularly those who lived in Kentucky during the last half of the 19th Century (heard a rumor once that they may have been part of the SLAUGHTERs who moved from Culpeper County VA to Kentucky around 1800. Specifically, I'm looking for information on my grandfather, Bernard Joseph SLAUGHTER (born in 1885/86 in Frankfort), and his parents, Edward SLAUGHTER (born estimated 1860) and a Sallie Nora CHAMBERS (born estimated 1865). FYI: Edward died around 1900, and my grandfather, Bernard, changed his name to Bernard E. SLAWTER after moving with his re-married mother to Greenville, Mississippi (estimated 1902). Would appreciate any leads. Am also extremely interested in finding out whether any of my ancestors from the area served in the Civil War, and whether any relatives from this branch of the SLAUGHTER/SLAWTER family still live in the Franfort area. Ed Stitt I have just found that my grandfather, Walter Howard, was born in Frankfort, KY on Oct 14, 1895. This has been difficult to find, my mother and her family have been estranged from her father for many years. But now that I've gotten this data, I find that KY doesn't have birth certificates if the birth was before 1910. If anything else is available, one must go to the county to get it.
