NOTE:
Men with question marks beside name stated in KY CSA pension application that they served in Company B, 13th Kentucky Cavalry commanded by Colonel James K. Huey, Captain Ross. This may be a different unit from Sypert's Cavalry. James K. Huey was original Captain of Company K, 1st (Helm's) Kentucky Cavalry which escaped with Colonel Nathan Bedford Forrest from Ft. Donelson, TN.
NOTE:
No muster rolls exist for Sypert's or Chenoweth's Cavalry regiments. The Kentucky Adjutant General's Report lists some of the officers, one company from Sypert's and one company from Chenoweth's Kentucky Cavalry. This list is in addition to and independent of the Report. Therefore, one should reference that book for additional names. A few of the names on this list are also listed in the Report. However, most of the names do not correspond to the company listed in the book.

Additionally, the Officers and company designations in the Report do not correspond to prison documents. The one exception was George Wilkerson Sellers who is listed in POW documents and the Adjutant General's Report as the Captain of Company D.

In February or March of 1865, Sypert's and Chenoweth's Cavalry units, due to dwindling numbers, were consolidated with the 3rd, 7th, 8th and 12th Kentucky Cavalry units. The 3rd, 7th, and 8th were originally infantry units from Western Kentucky that were mounted in 1864 to serve in Forrest's Cavalry Corp. These units were not a part of the original 3rd, 7th, and 8th Kentucky Cavalry regiments. For the few men that parole records still exist, most are listed as serving in the "8th & 12th Kentucky Cavalry." Needless to say, keeping track of unit designations is extremely confusing and I have doubts as to whether the men even knew for certain. I have seen a Kentucky pension application for a soldier who served under Sypert but listed his unit as the "8th Kentucky Cavalry."
