I am seeking information regarding my Gr.Grandfather Robert D. Baker possibly born in Vigo County, Terre Haute, IN. in July 1866. He was married to Nobie Coats Baker in Newnan, Coweta Co. Georgia around 1915- 1916. He also had a brother who lived on Long Island, N.Y. and he died the early part of the 1940's. He had a sister named Sara Jane. That is about the extent of the information I have. He was reportedly from rather wealthy family who gave him a yearly $$$ allowance and he spent his before the years end. His family decided to set up a trust fund for his future children. It was reported to me by my mother, Zelma Louise Baker Buice deceased in 1984, he ran away from home and ended up in Newnan Georgia where he married by grandmother Nobie Coats Baker. Before he died, he always stated to my mother she would inherit his money that was put in a trust fund since she was his only child. Any information would be greatly appreciated. This has always been a great mystery to my family and we would like to know anything regarding Robert D. Baker. Thank you, Janice B. Wright

Most likely my 5th GGF Johan Henrich LAY, b. 1720 probably in DEU, is listed in 1782 in Rockhill Twp., Bucks Co., PA Tax List, 300 Acres, as LEY's Estate, in 1780 & 1779 in Rockhill Twp., Bucks Co., PA Tax Lists, with 300 Acres, as Henry LEH, and in 1768 Tulpehoccon Twp., Berks Co., PA (just north of Myerstown) Tax List, with 100 Acres, as Henry LEYS. But my LAY/LEY/LEI/LOY/LEH/LYE line can only be traced back with definitive documentation to the 1800 Census of Mifflin Twp., Cumberland County, PA, where my 4th GGF, John LAY was listed. He was b. before 1755 in PA, 1m. Eva Margaret HENRY, had 5 sons and 3 daughters in 1800 (at least 2 more sons and 1 daughter were born after 1800), and d. c 1820 in Toboyne Twp., Perry Co., PA. His second wife, Hannah, was b. 1770 in Philadelphia Co., PA. His oldest child, a male, was b. between 1774 and 1784. A daughter, Catharine LAY, 1792-1876, and her husband, Christian HENRY (1790-1871) were both born in Bucks Co., PA. Another son, my 3rd GGF, John LAY, b. between 1790-1794, had a Sheriff's Deed issued on his Mifflin Twp., Cumberland Co., land in 1825. His wife remarried to a LORE and had a son, Joseph LORE (born c 1825) who lived in Terre Haute, Vigo Co, IN, in 1907. The LAY family intermarried with the HENRY family and lived near each other in Henry's (Diehl's or Sheaffer's) Valley, Perry Co., just over the mountain north of Mifflin Twp., Cumberland Co.
