Rufus HILL b 1797 in Connecticut, at least two children born in Ohio.
Rufus was in Lake Co. in 1872 and was listed as having six grown sons,
six grown daughters, and six children still at home. Rufus' will is, I
am told at Lake Co. Courthouse 1879 Book 1 page 37. His son Martin
Van Buren HILL is my GGgrandfather, he marr Mary Harriet MARTIN on
7 sep 1862 in Lake Co. Mary was born in Lowell, Lake, IN in 1847.
She may have attended Crown Point Institute during Mar 1870.

I would like some information on my great-grandparents, Charles Carlson
and Mabel Nelson Carlson. They came here from Sweden in the early 1900's
and settled in the Hammond area. She died when my grandmother was young
and he died around 1938 in a car accident on the 9 mile stretch. He was
also a detective in Lake County. I'd like to know approximately where
they lived in Hammond. I'd like to also find out about my great-great
grandmother Hannah Nelson, who also lived in Hammond. Thanks.

Looking for any information on HUSKs in Gary, Indiana. My great
grandmother Mary Ida HUSK and her son -- my granddad -- William
HUSK moved to Gary around 1916. Mary Ida supposedly ran a canteen.
I have been unable to locate my great grandma and my grandpa in
the 1920 census for Lake County.
Mary Ida adopted a young girl Lillian -- who went to Gary schools.
Lillian had a daughter Eveline and supposedly married a BERNARD. I would
like to find Lillian and Eveline.

HOLMES/MORRICAL - Seeking info on parents of John Holmes and
Mahala Jane Morrical. Johnb, b.in Pa in 1824; marr. 30 Dec 1852
in Fulton Co., Ind. to Mahala Jane Morrical. John and Mahala
appear in the 1860 Kankakee Co., Ill (Otto Township) Census.
Mahala b.1834 in Ind.. Children in 1860; Mary E., Eliza, Charles
and Melissa. John was a private in Co.H, 113th Illinois Infantry
during the Civil War and died 12 Dec 1863 in a hospital in
Springfield, Ill. Don't know when Mahala died, sometime after
1869.
It appears from 1860 Kankakee census that John may have had
brothers Jacob and Henry. Mahala had a brother, Frank, who was a
doctor in Chesterton, Ind.
