ALCORN-HOUGH
Looking for information on Martha Jane ALCORN who married Milton Thomas HOUGH in Jefferson Co., IN in Jan 1864. Family moved a great deal. Milton was in military hospital in Madison & discharged from service in June 1865. Children were Rosalie, Homer & Stella. Any information would be appreciated.

ANDERSON
Anyone lose an Anderson ancestor? We're looking for info on a Woodson H. ANDERSON. He said he was born 21 March 1877-1881 (he varied it) in Madison, Ind. (city? county? township?). Only other info we have to work with is he said his father's name was Henry; that his mother died when he was still very young; He said he ran away from home at an early age (early to mid 1890s) and did odd jobs in the mill (Elwood?) after his father married a woman who already had children by a previous relationship. According to city directories, he was living in Anderson from 1898-1900, don't know why. We've had no luck with birth, death records ... HELP!

Any info re my great grandfather, John ARION. Born 1828 in Virginia. Arrived Indiana about 1850. Settled in Carroll Co., Jackson Twp. Married Susannah NEHER (date unkown). Died 1907. 1880 census indicated father/mother born in VA. Other unconfirmed info I have indicates their names to be George and Barbara ARION. My grandfather, Joseph Edward ARION was born in Delphi in 1871, my father claimed to be born in Flora in 1905. My grandfather moved his family to North Dakota about 1910.

The family came to IN about 1813 from Stokes Co., NC. Some of Williams other children were: William Jr., John b/1795, Elias b/1792 m/Nancy COFFEE, Lottie, Mary m/Martin HEATH, and Samuel m/Polly BANKS. Any information will be appreciated.

BURGDOLL / COX
Trying to find leads to parents of William COX (1833-1925) and Luvina BURGDOLL (1837-1923.) The 1850 census shows Luvina living with six or seven sisters near Hanover before 1850. Cemetery records there show her father was named Daniel Burgdoll from OH. William Cox moved from Ohio to Hanover sometime before 1860 and married Lavina after the Civil War. Hanover Cemetery records say his parents were William Cox and Mary DRIGGS, both from OH. I am looking for any information that might lead me to Cox, Burgdoll, or Driggs lines in OH. Although less critical, I would also like to know who the Burgdoll women may have married.

Looking for Hannah OWENS-CHASTAIN. Married in Scott County in 1828 to Benjamin Chastain. Need to know who her parents were and where she is buried. May have been in Jefferson County at time of death. She was supposedly full blooded Cherokee Indian. Trying to trace her or her parents to Indian Rolls.

CHASTAIN
Looking for descendants of Hannah Catherine OWENS/CHASTAIN. Her name may have been Catherine Hannah. She m. Benjamin Chastaion in Scott County on Feb. 4, 1838. She was b. circa 1820. She died Dec. 14, 1869. She applied for a pension from her deceased son, Matthew Chastain, who was killed in the Civil War. She applied for the pension in Trimble County, KY, saying she was living on the Carrollton Rd. at Bedford, Ky., but she gave her postal address as Saluda Twp., Jefferson Co., IN. She said it was about 20 miles from Madison, and about six miles from the Ohio River on the Bethlehem Rd. She and Benjamin lived mostly in Jefferson Co. from the time of their marriage until her death in 1869. They had ten children. I would like to know who Hannah's parents were and where her grave is located.

I am looking for information on my 2 GG uncle. His name was Abijah Seymore CRANDELL. He was born 1847 in Cotton Twp, Switzerland Co. In. His wife's name was Augusta P. Crandell b1855. DAVIS families around Saluda 1850s. Has anyone researched the several Davis families there? Many of them are list their occupations in the censuses as "cooper." I am particularly interested in Thomas DAVIS and son William. However, it looks like many, if not most, were related somehow.

I'm looking for info. about John and Charlotta (BENNETT) HAMMOND. He was b. in MD and m. Charlotta bef 1820. One son, Denton (b. 1/01/1820) was still resident in IN in late 1800s. Other children were Dennis Bennett Hammond (my ancestor) born 5/04/1821 in Hamilton Co. Amos Hammond, Jehial Hammond (who served in an IL artillery company in the Civil War), Jane who m. William LITTLE, Julia who m. James RICHARDS, and Elizabeth who m. Benjamin STODDARD. John Hammond was a miller who lived in Jefferson Co, where he was supposed to be a pioneer. He belonged to the Democratic Party and lived in Madison Co until he and his wife moved to Switzerland Co, IN. Charlotta d. there on 7/04/1832. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. John Hammond d. in Switzerland Co. in 1853. Their son, Dennis Bennett Hammond, m. Hannah PADGETT on 1/23/1840, and they lived in Rising Sun where he worked as a miller before moving to Indian Creek where he was also a miller. They then moved to IA in 1850. Sarah (Padgett) Hammond was b. in Salem, NJ, on 8/11/1821 and was the d/0 William and Sarah (PIFFER) Padgett. I am interested in learning more about John Hammond, in particular his father's name and where he was born in MD. John's father was b. in Scotland and came to the US before the Revolution. Any information about John Hammond's father would be greatly appreciated.

Seeking information about two families: LADRIGAN and WALPOLE. Joseph (or James) H. Ladrigan, born September, 1855 in England(?). 1880 Census shows him on Jefferson Street in Louisville, KY. Married to Rosavek of Canada. Son James Ladrigan married Margaret T. Walpole. She was apparently born November, 1856 in Indiana. Possibly the daughter of Thomas Walpole of Madison, Indiana. Walpole's were from Ireland. James and Margaret lived in Louisville for a few years before moving to Cincinnati between 1882- 1885.
