THOMPSON-THOMPSON in Harrison county. I am so excited. I just found the marriage of my son-in-law's ancestors and it says they married in Harrison county. They were cousins: James THOMPSON (born ca1830-35 prob Ohio or Pa), married on 28 June 1841 Harrison County Indiana to Katherine THOMPSON (born 13 January 1836 Ohio, died 18 January 1929 Cleora, Craig County, Oklahoma). Both of them had a brother, John. James' brother, John, was born 1831 Pa. They had a sister, Evaline, born 22 June 1857, Iowa. She married Joseph GOOD- MAN and they are on the 1900 census of Carroll Co, MO, with her brother, John living with them. Katherine's brother, John, was born 1857 in Iowa. He was living in Washington County, Oklahoma in 1910 with his family. Catherine and James are not found on any census until she is on the 1910 census of Rogers County, OKlahoma with 3 sons still at home. It is not known what happened to James. If anyone knows of this family in Harrison County, I would be much pleased to hear from you. I would be very glad to exchange family data with other family members if we can connect. I have just found out about this marriage in this location so I have not had time to search the 1850 census to see what Thompsons are there. Of the other Thompson marriages that I found on the Broderbund marriage cd 2, there was one for a John THOMPSON to Amanda DAVIS on 26 August 1849. This is likely to be Katherine's brother as I believe he was on his second marriage when I found him on the 1910 census in Oklahoma. Please e-mail me if you have info. Thanking you in advance. I am attempting to obtain a date of death for a John Conrad Hottel b. Dec. 22, 1779 in Shenandoah County, VA. He moved to Harrison County, IN in 1814 and settled on a large farm on Big Indian Creek, three miles southwest of Corydon. His wife Barbara Funkhouser died on May 29, 1840. John Conrad Hottle apparently has died prior to that date but after 1830. John Conrad Hottel and his wife were members of the United Brethern Church. They are buried in a small graveyard (no headstones remain) on a hillside overlooking Big Indian Creek and Hottel Road. His date of death is somewhat of a mystery as apparently no research from the 1920's to date has been able to discover it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John was a Revolutionary War veteran, owned land in Morgan Co., but apparently was buried in Harrison Co. (or was it his father?). A number of other family surnames from West Morgan Co. apparently show up in the cemetery: Bowman, Blunk, Lemmon, Johnson, Zenor, Yager, Mulkins. Would love to have contact with anyone who would have info on this cmetery and the history surrounding this area. Thanks--James Mannan

I am searching for my great grandparents. His name is Jonathan Mauck with a possibility of Henry as a first or middle name. My information is that he was born either in Indiana or Germany. His named appeared on my grand fathers marriage certificate and death certificate as Henry Mauck born in Indiana. I did obtain further information that possibly Jonathan was his real first name. Jonathan married Mary F. Benet or Bennett, pronounced Ben-nay who was born in France. I do not have any dates of birth, death, or marriage. I do know that Mary remarried a man with the last name of Floyd. They had two boys named John and Ben. They lived mostly in Floyd Co. IN. This information came from my only living aunt. She also had pictures of John and Ben. The information was written down in a photo album, as she is ill and her memory is gone. I have not been able to find Jonathan in any census. I did find Mary Floyd and her boys in the 1900 census in Floyd Co. Indiana. My grand father was born in Indiana on 1 Feb 1871 in IN. His name was Charles Edward Mauck. My grand fatherAEs marriage certificate said he was born in New Amsterdam and his death certificate said New Albany, both in southern Indiana. He married Clara Cathern Grass in New Middle Town, Indiana, on 24 Oct 1893. She was born in Indiana 25 Oct 1875 . Her fathers name was Daniel Grass, born in Corydon, Indiana on 9 Nov 1849. Charles and Clara had their first three children in Harrison Co. Indiana before moving to Nebraska. It is an old family story that Charles was abandon by his parents, he could have been an orphan. The first census that I can find Charles in was 1880, he would have been nine. In that census Charles was listed with a Gerdon family. It happened that Charles and Clara were married by a priest named Joseph Gerdon. Charles had a sister named Minnie who married a man named Rayford E. Turner. I subscribe to the Mock Family Historian. I have read oThe Descendants of Peter Mauckoe. I can find no connection with any one in that book. I have been to Harrison Co. IN twice and visited the library in Fort Wayne. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to spend there. I believe that my grand father being born in Indiana, married there, and having children there, that he must fit in with Maucks in Indiana. If you can give me any information that might link me up with anyone or any place where I could find out anything, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Roger N. UNSELD also appears as UNSELT, ONSELT, ONESELF, UNSELL, ONCEL, and probably many other variations. After more than a decade of research on this line, I'm still looking for any documented information on Elizabeth UNSELD's parentage.
