Researching my G-grandfather Gorman Arnold YOUNG, (b.17SEP1852 in Oden IN). Married Florence BUZAN, (b. 23FEB1853 in Elnora, IN). They lived in Champaign Co. IL, farming and raising a family in the 1870s-1900s. Florence died (in IL) on 12MAR1905, buried in Old Elnora Cemetery. Gorman remarried Gertie Guthrie HOWELL (widowed) of Oden, IN, b. 26MAR1878, d. 30APR1959. Gorman and Gertie were married in Champaign, IL but moved back to Oden, where Gorman died on 6DEC1940. The Young family plot, where Gorman, Florence and their first son Claud are buried, has the most elaborate monument in the cemetery. Gorman is the son of Collin YOUNG: I have noticed a "Collen" YOUNG in the 1850 census index in Greene Co IN., but have not found them in 1860 Daviess Co. census. I have also found the families of Elzy BUZAN and Allen BUZAN in 1850 Daviess Co. census microfilm, but 1860 census had only Elzy's family. Florence YOUNG's first child was Claudius Allen YOUNG, so a connection may exist. Have descendent info on Youngs, need Young/Buzan ancestor help.

I definitely have roots in Daviess County. I have a copy of the US census, Dated June 1, 1900. It states that in Madison Township my grandfather, Freddie Briggs, born September 1898 was counted, along with his father: James Briggs, and his mother: Daisey Briggs. Family legend has it that Daisey was a full-blooded Cherokee, and James was Irish. Genealogy trail has led me here, but I am unclear which way to turn next.
