I am looking for information on Hugh Michael Cunningham, Sr. According to his obituary, He was born 5/8/1886 died 1/16/1945, He was perhaps an imigrant from Ireland, who's family located in Clay County, Vermillion or perhaps Vigo County, but his family did live in Clay County for sometime. His family that I know of consited of Brothers Frank, Joseph, John, James, & Arthur and Sisters Mary Rabould, Agnus Ronsonn, & Anna Barron. I know noting about his Parents, accept his father may have been named Francis. Hugh Michael was a coal miner. He was married to Margret Cogan. I'm looking for information about my grandfather Robert STEELE III and his family. I know his parents were Robert Steele II and Sarah Jane CARPENTER. The Steele were from England and the Carpenters were from Wales. They settled in Clay Co.,In looking for jobs in the mines. My grandfather was born in Harmomy on 2-24-1888. He was married to Alma SHOUSE in Paris Ill. in 1924, this was a 2nd marriage. He was married to a woman who died in child birth, the mother and child were buried together. His brothers and sisters were Frank (or uncle Fingers, because he lost some of his fingers while working in the mines)was born in 1872, William was a half brother and was born in 1871,John, Joseph in 1874, Elizabeth in 1875,James in 1878, Thomas in 1880, George in 1882, Martha, may have been Sarah or the two names together, in 1884, Herman in 1886, Archie in 1892,and there was an Aunt Anna Steele Born in 1869. I know that Uncle Frank lived in Bowling Green when I was little. He owed about 20 acers past Brazil(north) with two ponds and a log cabin with clab board siding. We would sometime visit it until my parents bought a farm in Owen Co.,In. Would like to meet and/or speek with other Steele's. My mother was the baby of the family and by the time I could remember the Steele's they were dieing. I was born in 1953. Please let me know if you could help me? One more thing I was told that Sarah Jane and Robert Steele II were buried in Harmony In.

Information on a Zelphia Orman. She was born in I believe Clay County, Indiana around 1871 and a brother john around 1881. Parents were James and Rachel (Bergen) Orman. The family unit moved to Marion County, Illinois probably in the mid 1880s Where Zelphia married a B. F. Hockman in 1887. There are several possible spellings for Zelphia depending on the record. Zelphia Orman is my wifes Grandmother.

They lived in Harmony and had 10 children between 1882 and 1904. They moved to Terre Haute and Clarence died in 1930 and Elizabeth in 1936. I am trying to find the names of the parents of my grandfather, Mayfield Heath, I believe he was born September 1, 1865 and died March 1, 1948. It is possible that his father's name was John. I am reasonably sure he was born in Clay County. I am also looking for info on the parents of my grandmother, Arabelle Hines Heath, I believe they were named Albert and Rebecca Owen(s) Hines. My grandmother was born January 25, 1876 and died March 25, 1942. I am further looking for the parents of my g-grandmother, Rachel (or Rachael) City, She was married to a Thompson, my grandfather Henry "Zack" Neal and Arterman Corbett Rowse, she may have been born in Clay or Greene County about 1850 and died in Greene Co. I also appear to have 2 Mahlon Neals. The elder one was born in Miami Co. Ohio, moved to Clay County and was co-owner of Neal's Mill on the Eel River in southern Clay County and married a sister of Elizabeth Love (she married my 2g-grandfather John Neal. The other Mahlon Neal was probably a nephew and married Mary Baughman in either Clay or Greene County Oct. 7, 1888

I am looking for information on William M. Harris. He is in the 1860 census for Clay county, Perry township. He is my great grandfather. He was married to Frances M. Harris and had four children: William D. Harris, James F. Harris (my grandfather), Laura Belle Harris, Clara A. Harris, Gertie B. Harris, and Pearl A. Harris. My father used to tell me we had a relative that was a doctor in the Civil War. In the 1860 census, William M. Harris was listed as a physician. He was born in Ohio in 1815. I have not been able to trace him in Ohio. If anyone can help me with information on him, I will be most grateful. I have a limited amount of information on my family in Indiana. I am presently living in Davison, Michigan.

England, occ. seamstress; Mary A., age 8, b. Ind.; Elizabeth, age 2/12, b. Ind. They were living in the household of David M. Jewett, age 25, b. Ind., and his brother Edward D. Jewett, age 21, b. Ind.; their occ. was farmer. Also listed in the household were two farm laborers, John Craig (age 25, b. Ire.) and Edwin Quinn (age 21, b. Ind.). Does anyone have any information about George or his wife Harriet? We assume she died before March 1863, as that is when George married my gg- grandmother, Rosella HOLLIDAY, in Greene Co. I'm looking for information about Albert Moss who was born in 1851 in or around Center Point, IN near Brazil. He married Cassie Akers of Greenup County, KY in 1891 or 1892, and with her made the land run of 1893 into the Cherokee Strip of what was to become Oklahoma. Mr. Moss, my grandfather, was the son of a Civil War Union army major who was captured by the Confederates early in the war and held - I believe - in the prison camp at Atlanta, GA.

Searching for information on the family of Alexander MURDOCH, who brought his wife Elizabeth ROBERTSON and children to Clay Co IN from Scotland in 1886 or shortly thereafter. Children included sons Alexander and George MURDOCH. George subsequently brought his wife Mary NESS and their numerous children from their home in Fifeshire, Scotland. The MURDOCHs had been coal miners in West Fife prior to emigrating to America. I am interested in learning how they knew to come to Clay Co, and specifically, to Cardonia, where they settled and lived for a decade or more prior to moving to Linton. Numerous other Scots families came to the Brazil area during this period of time. I would be interested in coresponding with others whose ancestors were from Scotland and came to Clay Co to work in the mines.
