The above are names that I am researching in Brown County, IN. Henry THOMPSON, b.1812- d.1893 came to Brown County sometime prior to the 1860 census from Tuscarawas County, Ohio. He was married to Nancy FIRREL and had 6 children. He is buried in Christiansburg cemetery, Van Buren Twp, Brown Co, IN. I am trying to find out his parents names. Also, I am trying to find out what happened to his son, Lewis THOMPSON, who was married to Anna NEWMISTER. He was supposed to have left Brown Co to go to KY to buy horses and never returned. My grandfather, Floyd Harry BENDER, was the grandson of William BENDER, whose wife was Debaugh (Deborah) CREECH. William was a Brown Co. Commissioner. Floyd BENDER's mother was Mary Belle HARRIS, the daughter of John HARRIS and Sarah BERRY who were married in Brown Co. in March, 1842. The families mentioned above all lived in Brown Co. during the mid-1800s. John HARRIS's father, John Sr., lived in Hamblen Twp and is buried at what was known as Snider's Farm. They are supposed to be buried in the Oak ridge Cemetery, Brown Co. Family lore has it Elmira Lee is relation to Robert E. Lee. Is this true? We descend from his son, David Richard.
