Date of photo is circa 1943. Photographs are the property of Mrs. Elsie Brink Harmon of South Gate, CA. Elsie's mother, Gladys Brink, taught at Oak Ridge School during the school years 1943-1944 and 1944-1945. The 1943 Teacher's Contract (beginning in 1943) was signed by Russell Warner, Alva C. Richards, and Lee May, Directors of School. The 1944 Teacher's Contract was signed by Russell Warner, John Mumma, and Alva C. Richards, Directors of School, with Russell Warner listed as President and Alva C. Richards as Clerk. GLADYS BRINK, Teacher: Gladys taught in Lee County and Ogle County in the 1920's. One registration, dated October 15, 1920, was signed by John E. Cross, Ogle County Superintendent of Schools. Another Registration was dated July 1, 1925 and was signed by the same man. Gladys Brink paid $1.00 for "Examination", indicating what grade she would be teaching. She paid $1.00 payments to the Illinois State Teacher's Pension and Retirement Fund, which included a payment booklet. In 1920 Gladys Brink taught in School District # 54, Ogle County. She taught in this school district in 1921, 1925, and 1926. During 1922, 1923, and 1924, Gladys taught in Lee County. She made two payments to the retirement fund during the first part of 1925 in Lee County. In 1919 and part of 1920, Gladys was in Lee County, IL. During this period of time she was still single and documents show her name to have been Gladys Gilroy. Among her daughter's possessions is a Teacher's Certificate, Limited State War Emergency Certificate, dated December 17, 1943. The Certificate was signed by William L. Pickering, County Superintendent of Ogle County. On the back of this Certificate is written "School District # 50". (submitted, with permission, by Layne A.
