State of North Carolina
County of Mecklenburg

In the name of God Amen 23rd Day of September in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred & ninety five. I Benjamin Brown of Mecklenburg
County in the State of North Carolina being weak in body but of perfect
sound reason & judgment in mind and memory, blessed be God and calling to 
mind remembrance his tran_____ of this life and that it is appointed for 
all men once to die. Do make and ordain this my last will and testament 
in manner and form following.  Viz  My will and desire is that all my just 
debts and funeral charges be justly and fully paid by my execs. hereafter 
named. Item My will and desire is _____ and I bequeath to my loving wife 
Jean Brown one black mare and a two year old filly, two milk cows and 
calves, two sheep one half of the hogs, one featherbed and furniture with 
the bedstead one chest and table two parts of the dooper?  furniture. The 
half of the flax and the whole of the wool and the half of the money 
arising from a bond upon John Ross. Item My further will is that the 
remainder of my estate in my possession and right to claim be sold by my 
exec. (here after named) and the money arising from said sale I bequeath 
to my daughter Nancy Beard and put to intrest for her benifit till she is 
of age or maried (if she lives ____ ____ of these take place). If not my
will and desire is that my beloved wife Jean Brown be her heir.
Further & lastly I do hereby authorize constitute and appoint George Ross 
and my beloved wife Jean Brown both of Mecklenburg County and State of 
North Carolina my whole & sole executors of this my last will and testament 
hereby revoking all other wills by me hereto fore made. In witneys where 
of I have hereunto let my hand & seal this day and year above written.
