STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA  COURT OF PLEAS & QUARTER SESSIONS  MECKLENBURG COUNTY
Oct. Term, 1838

JOSEPH McGINNIS
      vs.
JOHN McGINNIS

Original Attachment Levied in the hands of WILLIAM REED, and him summoned as 
Garnishee

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendant, JOHN 
McGILLIS, is not a resident of this State. It is therefore ordered by the 
Court that publication be made for six successive weeks in the Charlotte 
Journal notifying the said defendant, to be and appear at our next Court to be 
held for the County of Mecklenburg at the Court House in Charlotte on the 4th 
Monday of January next. Then and there to plead, answer or demur to this bill, 
otherwise judgment will be taken pro confesso and the matter heard ex parte as 
to him. Witness BRALY OATES, Clerk of said Court at Office on the 4th Monday 
in October A. D. 1838.
