STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA  COURT OF PLEAS & QUARTER SESSIONS  MECKLENBURG COUNTY
Oct. Term, 1837

JOHN F. HUNTER
     vs.
THOMAS COOPER and JOSEPH CHITTUM

Attachment: Levied on a tract of land, the property of THOMAS COOPER, 
adjoining the lands of WILLIAM COOPER, JOHN COOPER and others

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendants are not 
inhabitants of this State. It is therefore ordered by the Court that 
publication be made for six successive weeks in the Charlotte Journal 
notifying said defendants, non-residents, to be and appear at our next Court 
of Pleas & Quarter Sessions to be held for said County at the Court House in 
Charlotte on the 4th Monday in January next. Then and there to plead, answer 
or demur to this petition filed. Otherwise, judgment will be taken pro 
confesso and the matter heard ex parte as to them. Witness, BRALY OATES, Clerk 
of said Court at office on the 4th Monday in October A.D. 1837.
