STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA  COURT OF PLEAS & QUARTER SESSIONS  MECKLENBURG COUNTY
April Term, 1840

DR. D. R. DUNLAP
     vs.
EDWARD S. BATH

Orginial attachment: Levied on Negro girl, ESTHER

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the Defendant, EDWARD S. 
BATH, is not a resident  of this State. It is therefore ordered by the Court 
that publication be made for six successive weeks in the Charlotte Journal 
notifying said defendant to be and appear at the next Court of Pleas and 
Quarter Sessions to be held for said county in the Court House at Charlotte on 
the 4th Monday in July next. Then and there to plead, answer or demur to this 
petition filed. Otherwide judgment will be taken pro confesso and heard ex 
parte as to him. Witness, BRALY OATES, Clerk of the said Court at Office on 
the 4th Monday in April A. D. 1840.
