This indenture made and entered into January the 1st one thousand eight 
hundred fifty six between Nathan Askew of the State of North Carolina County 
of Jones of the first part and John A J Waters of the same State and County 
aforesaid of the second part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the 
sum of two hundred dollars in hand paid to the said Nathan Askew by the said 
John A J Waters of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged 
by the said Nathan Askew hath bargained sold and conveyed and by these 
presents do bargain sell and convey unto the said John A J Waters one certain 
parcel or piece of land situate lying and being in the County of Jones and 
Lenoir and is a part of two several patents one by John Love for two hundred 
acres bearing date 4th of March 1775 and the other patented by David O Bryan 
for one hundred acres bounded as follows Beginning at a Pine Richard 
Blackledges and David O Bryans corner and also Hawkins corner and runs north 
Hawkin's home line to a stake in the patent line of John Love thence North 25 
east 178 poles thence East 125 poles to a stake in Robert Wetheringtons patent 
line thence South 30 East 107 poles to a pine Wetheringtons Corner thence to 
Richard Blackledges line thence North his line to the beginning containing by 
estimation one hundred fifty acres be the same more or less to him the said 
John A J Waters his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever.To have 
and to hold the above premises with the said John A J Waters for myself my 
heirs or any other person claiming through or by me to?qiut? claim and ? ?unto 
the said John A J Waters all my right and title to the above described land 
and so forth .In Witness I hereunto subscribe and set my hand and seal the day 
and date above written Nathan Askew
