Born December 25, 1888, he was the son of the later James and Susan Williams 
of Lenoir County. He never married. He lived in a trailer on his farm/ 
property called Frogg Level, at the  front of his tenant Sanders' house. 
Always hitching a ride, Clayton was unable to resist any sales or bargins. He 
always showed up at mealtime at someone's house and was renown for hthe rhmes 
he could recite. He died November 29, 1971.  
 
Obit reads:
PAUL CLAYTON WILLIAMS: Funeral services were held at 2pm Tuesday from the 
chapel of Edwards Funeral Home for Paul Clayton Williams, 82, a retired farmer 
and teacher of Kinston Route 5 who died Monday at his home following a brief 
illness. Rev. L. H. Benett officated. Burial followed in the Williams family 
cemetery near Woodington. He had taught at B.F. Grady, Comfort, Maple Hill and 
Vanceboro Schools. He was the son of the later James and Susan Williams of 
Lenoir County. Survivors include a brother, John E. Williams of Fayetteville; 
and several neices and nephews. Pallbearers were Roscoe Williams, R. Lee 
Fordham, Rodolph Fordham, H. E. Williams, John Croom and Saul Moore. The 
family is at the home of Roscoe Williams of Kinston Route 5.
