Lenoir County, NC - Luther S. Kennedy Civil War Pension, 1859

Luther S. Kennedy applied for pension June 25, 1901 from Lenoir County,
age 67, a resident of Institute township. Pension states he enlisted
May 27, 1861 in Company H, 2nd Regiment and later Company E, 61 Regiment.
Dr. John A. Pollock examined him and reported "for age and exposure
needs a half pension." Pension was rejected for reason of insufficient
disability.

Luther S. Kennedy applied for pension May 31, 1902 from Lenoir County,
age 67, a resident of Kinston township. Pension based on service in Company
E, 61 Regiment as of May 14, 1862. Soldier stated "Staid in the war to the 
finish - was in the battle of Bentonsville, NC". Dr. John A. Pollock
examined him and reported "from age (67) from war exposure for years,
from chronic Piles contracted during service he needs at least a half
pension". Pension was approved.
