Koonce, John E., Private
Company C, 27th Regiment NC Troops
Enlisted at Orange Court House, Virginia, at age 17, April 17, 1864, for the 
war. Wounded at Wilderness, Virginia, on or about May 5, 1864. Hospitalized at 
Richmond, Virginia. Furloughed on September 2, 1864. Company muster roll dated 
January-February, 1865, indicates that he had not been heard from since the 
date of his furlough. (North Carolina pension records indicate that he survied 
the war.)
