Will of Richard Tucker Maynor, 1798 In the name of God amen I Richard Tucker Maynor of Patrick County and State of Virginia being sick in body but of good and Sound memory thanks be to almighty God calling to mind the uncertainty estate of the Transitory life and that all flesh must yield unto death when I shall please God to call, do make constitute ordain and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, revoking and annulling by these presents all and every Testament will and wills heretofore by me made and declare either by word or writing and this is to be taken only for my last Will and Testament and none other and first being pentinent and Sorry from the bottom of my heart for my sins past most Humbly desire for forgiveness for the same. I give and commit my Soul to almighty god and Savior & redeemer in hume and by the words of Jesus Christ I trust and believe assuredly to be saved and to have full remission and forgiveness of all my sins and that my Soul with my body at the general day of resurection shall arise again with Day (?) and through the merits of Christs death and passion posses and inherit the Kingdom of Heaven prepared for his Elect and chosen and my body to be buried in such place where it shall please my Exrs. hereinafter named to be appointed and now for the settling of my temporal estate and such goods Chattels & debts as it has pleased God far above my desarts to bestow upon me, I do order give and dispose the same in manner and form following that is to say - first I will that all those Debts and duties that I owe in right or conshence to any manner of Person or Persons whatsoever shall be well & truly counted and paid ordained to be paid within convenient time after my death by my Exrs. hereinafter named I give and bequeath unto my son William Maynor and his heirs forever five Shillings to be dilivered to my aforsd. son after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ruth Bryant and her heirs forever five shillings to my aforesd. Daughter after my decease. I bequeath unto my son Tucker Maynor and his heirs forever five shillings to be dilivered to him my foresd. son after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Johnson and her heirs forever several articles that I lent her when she was married - I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Pressiller Maynor and her heirs forever one feather Bed and furniture to be dilivered to her my aforesaid Daughter after my decease allso Twenty five pounds Current money of Virginia and of the land I now live on to be paid by him whom I shall leave the land. To hereafter named to be dilivered to her my aforsd. Daughter after the death of her mother. I give and bequeath unto my son Isaiah Maynor and his heirs forever five shillings to be dilivered to him my aforsd. son after my decease. I give and bequeath unto mu son Jeremiah Maynor and his heirs forever five Shillings to be dilivered to him my aforsd. son after my Decease. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jemimah Maynor and her heirs forever one feather Bed and furniture to be dilivered to her my aforsd. Daughter after my decease and Twenty five pounds Current money of Virginia out of the land I now live on to be paid by him whom I shall leave the land to hereafter named to be dilivered to her my afsd. Daughter after the Death of her mother. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Rosy Maynor and her heirs forever one feather bed and furniture also one Cow and Calf to be dilivered to her my aforsd. Daughter when she shall arrive to the full age of Sixteen or in the care of whome she shall Choose to live with - I give and bequeath unto my son Stephen Maynor and his heirs forever all the land that appears to be mine adjoining lying on the north side of Smiths River Beginning opposite the mouth of Bowens Creek thence down the river as it meanders to Edward Philpott line thence around my my out side line till it comes to the mouth of Pains branch thence across the afords. Smiths River to a poplar on the Bank up the river as it meanders to a Sycamore thence South 2 Degrees & 100 po. crossing a Branch to a red oak thence around to the Beginning also all the rest of my Household furniture that appears to be mine and all the rest of my Stock of all kinds and all my plantation tools of all sorts after paying twenty five pounds Current money of Virginia to my afsd. Daughter Prissiler Maynor and twenty five pounds Current money of Virginia to my aforsd. Daughter Jemima Maynor to be dilivered to him my aforsd. son after the Death of his mother. I lend unto my loving wife Ann Maynor the land & Plantation that I give to my aforsd. son Stephen Maynor also all the household furniture and all the Plantation tools of all sorts during her natural life. I will that my land lying at the mouth of Bowens Creek & running over on the Cow Branch so around to the river then & up the river as it meanders to the beginning also an entry of land lying on the back of it be sold for to help to pay my Debts except my Exr.s should make out to Pay my my Debts without selling any of the Stock or house hold furniture or Plantation Tools if they can then I give the same Land to my son Isaiah Maynor his his heirs forever. I nominate and appoint my living wife Ann Maynor, Isaiah Maynor and Stephen Maynor Joint and wholly Excr. and Ex. of all my goods and Chattels Ratifying and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament.
