JOHN PAGE esquire, governor of the commonwealth of Virginia To all to whom 
these presents shall come greeting, KNOW YE, That by virtue of a Land Office
treasury warrant, number two thousand one hundred and sixty eight, issued 
the thirteenth day of April, seventeen hundred and ninety seven, there is 
granted by the said commonwealth unto Eliphas Shelton, a certain tract or 
parcel of land, containing two hundred acres by survey bearing date the 
fourth day of December, eighteen hundred and two, lying and being in the 
county of Patrick on the waters of the Bull mountain fork of the south Mayo 
river and bounded as followeth to wit, BEGINNING at his own corner white-oak, 
with his line, north fourteen degrees, east forty poles to pointers, new 
line, north eighty-four degrees, west ninety eight poles, crossing a branch 
to a white-oak and locust, south sixty eight degrees west eighty poles, 
crossing the aforesaid fork to a white-oak, south twenty three degrees, west
sixty poles to a chesnut tree, south forty-one degrees, east thirty-eight 
poles to two white-oaks, south twenty five degrees east fifty poles to 
pointers in Strongs line, with his line, north fifty-seven degrees, east 
twenty eight poles crossing the aforesaid fork to a white-oak, south 
thirty-nine degrees, east forty-four poles to a beech on the same, thence 
down the same as it meanders, and across two hundred and twenty poles to a 
white-oak at the mouth of a branch, north sixty three degrees, west twenty 
poles, to a dogwood, new line, south twenty degrees, east seventy two poles 
to pointers in Fains line with his line, north fifty three degrees, east 
twenty poles, crossing the said fork to a white-oak, then new lines, north 
twenty degrees west fifty poles to a chesnut oak near a clift of rocks, 
north eighteen degrees, east eighteen poles to a white-oak, north 
twenty-seven degrees, west twenty poles to pointers, on a fork of the said 
fork, thence up the same as it meanders ninety poles to the aforesaid 
Shelton's corner on two beeches with his line, north forty-seven degrees, 
west forty-four poles to a white-oak, north twelve degrees, west one hundred
and sixteen poles to a white-oak, north eighty five degrees, west fifty 
poles to a fallen white-oak, north fourteen degrees, east fifty poles 
crossing a branch to a white-oak, and thence north, twenty six poles to the 
beginning with its appurtenances, To have and to hold the said tract or 
parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Eliphas Shelton, and his 
heirs forever.  In witness whereof the said John Page esquire, governor of 
the commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the 
lesser seal of the said commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond, on the ninth
day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four and 
of the commonwealth the twenty eighth.
