THIS INDENTURE made this 11th day of February 1830 Between Absolem Shelton 
of the County of Patrick and state of Virga. of the 1st part, Samuel Sharp 
of the second part, and James M. Redd of the same County & State of the 3rd 
part Witnesseth that whereas the said Absolem Shelton hath this day executed
to the said James M. Redd his bond for the sum of sixty dollars & 94 cents 
and payable the 20th day of May 1830 and also another bond for the sum of 
Ten dollars & 84 1/2 cents executed the 5th day of Nov. 1829 & payable on 
demand as will more fully appear reference being had to the said bond now 
in the possession of the said James M. Redd.  The payment of which bonds to 
the said Jas. M. Redd the A. Shelton is desirous of securing.  Now therefore
the said A. Shelton for and in Consideration of the premises, and for the 
further sum of One dollar to him in hand paid by the Saml. Sharp the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, 
enfeoffed & confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, 
alien, enfeoff & confirm unto the said Saml. Sharp his heirs etc. two 
certain tracts pieces or parcels of Land lying in the County of Patrick, 
The first tract containing by estimation one hundred & eight acres be the 
same more or less.  The 2nd tract Containing fifty acres by actual survey, 
both tract lying on the waters of Russells Creek.  They being the same 
tracts conveyed in Trust to Abram Staples & Tyre Shelton by deed bearing 
date the 9th Instant and now of record in the Clerks office of Patrick 
County a reference to which will in a particular manner shew the bondaries 
of the said tracts of Land.  Also the following property to Wit One dark 
Mulatto Negroe man named Henry supposed to be 22 years of age one sorrel 
mare about 8 years of age 1 sorrel & 1 Bay horse 1 Waggon & 4 pair of gear 
1 ox Cart 1 yoke of oxen 4 head of Cattle marked with a swaller fork & 
underkeel in the left ear and overkeel and underkeel in the right 8 head of 
sheep marked in the same way 14 head of Hogs of the same mark, with the 
entire increase of the horses, cattle, sheep & Hogs 2 Beds & bedstead & 
their furniture 1 cupboard 1 Trunk, 1 spinning wheel, 1 flax wheel 1 loom, 
1 pott, 2 ovens & lids, 7 chairs, 1 Table, 4 axes, 5 or 6 hoes 1 pair plow 
traces 1 pair steelyards Together with the whole of the household & Kitchen 
furniture & plantation utencils.  The whole of the said Sheltons present 
crop of Corn Oats Tobacco, foddre & the growing Crop of Small grain and 
several articles of earthenware too tedious to enumerate.  To Have and to 
hold the aforesaid Land and property with all its appurtenances to the only 
use behoof and benefit of him the said Saml. Sharp his heirs etc. free from 
the Claims of all persons whatever in fee simple forever.  Upon trust 
nevertheless that the said Saml. Sharp his heirs etc. shall permit the said 
A. Shelton to hold and enjoy the said Lands and its profits of the property 
until the 20th day of May 1830 and upon this further trust that if the said 
sum of money due the said James M. Redd with the interest that may accrue 
thereon shall not be paid on the 20th day of May 1830 aforesaid that then 
the said Saml. Sharp shall proceed to sell the same whenever required by the
said James M. Redd for Cash to the highest bidder, having first given 
reasonable notice of the time and place of selling the said Land and 
property.  The place of selling shall be at the option of the said Saml. 
Sharp or his heirs etc. To be advertized at Patrick Courthouse & out of the 
proceeds thereof shall pay the said Redd his debts & interest aforesaid 
having first deducted all expence attending the recording and Carrying this 
Deed into effect and the residue if any pay to the said Shelton or his legal
representative.  But if the said Shelton shall pay the sd. Redd his debts 
interest and costs on the said 20th May 1830 then this deed to be void else 
to remain in full force.  In witness whereof the said Absolem Shelton, Saml.
Sharp and Jas. M. Redd have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals
the day and year first above written.

          This Deed of Trust from Absolem Shelton and Saml. Sharp Trustee 
to James M. Redd was acknowledged in Court and ordered to be recorded.
