THIS INDENTURE made this 9 day of January in the Year of Our Lord 1827 
Between William Sharp of the County of Patrick and State of Virginia of the 
One part and Samuel Matcalf of the same county and state aforesaid of the 
other part Witnesseth that the said William Sharp for and in Consideration 
of the sum of [blank] lawful money of Virga. to him in hand paid by the said 
Samuel Matcalf at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the 
receipt whereof the said Wm. Sharp doth hereby acknowledge hath granted, 
bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these presents doth 
grant bargain and sell, alien enfeoff & Confirm unto the said Samuel Matcalf 
his heirs & assigns forever one Certain tract or parcel of Land with the 
appertenances situate lying & being in the County of Patrick & Containing 
fifty One acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows to wit, 
Beginning at a black gum, thence running south 100 poles to an ash on the 
east side of a branch in Absolem Sheltons line that line South 81 West 39 
poles crossing the the branch to an ash stump in a field, thence No. 47 W. 
110 poles to a chesnut tree on the East side of the branch thence a new line 
No. 65 East 100 poles to the Beginning.

To Have and to Hold the said Tract of Land and all other the premises hereby 
granted bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with their and 
every of their appurtenances unto the said Samuel Matcalf his heirs and 
assigns forever to the Only proper use and behoof of him the said Samuel 
Matcalf his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Sharp for himself 
& his heirs the said Land with all & singular the premises & appertenances 
before mentioned unto the said Samuel Matcalf his heirs & assigns free from 
the claim or claims of him the said William Sharp or his heirs or assigns 
shall will and do warrant & forever defend by these presents and the said 
William Sharp covenants to and with the said Samuel Matcalf that he will 
warrant and defend the title aforesaid to the premises aforesaid against 
himself & his heirs & assigns forever and none other.

It being understood that the said Wm. Sharp by this Indenture Conveys the 
title vested in him to the above Land by grant from the Commonwealth of 
Virga. against himself & his heirs & not against all or any claim that may 
be put up to the said Land.

In witness whereof the said Wm. Sharp hath hereunto set his hand & affixed 
his seal the day and year first above written.

                           This Indenture of bargain and sale from William 
N. Sharp to Samuel Matcalf was acknowledged in Court by the said Sharp to be 
his act and deed and admitted to record.
