THIS INDENTURE made this 27th day of July 1828 Between William N. Sharp of 
the County of Patrick and State of Virginia of the one part and Samuel 
Gilbert of the same County and State of the other part Witnesseth that the 
said William N. Sharp for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and 
thirty seven dollars to him in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby 
acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth 
grant, bargain & sell unto him the said Samuel Gilbert his heirs and assigns 
forever one certain Tract piece or parcel of land, situate lying and being 
in the County of Patrick on the head waters of Russells Creek and South Mayo 
containing one hundred and thirty seven acres be the same more or less and 
bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at a chesnut tree in the ridge path 
near James Newmans thence runing his line N46 E98 poles crossing a branch to 
a black Gum, in Sheltons line, that line No.30 W.190 poles to a red oak 
No.60 W.58 poles crossing a branch to a Spanish oak, So.75 W16 pos. to a 
Spanish oak in Christopher Clarks line that line So.15 W.74 poles to a 
Spanish oak, So.10 E.71 pos. to a white oak near the ridge path leading to 
James Newmans thence that ridge So.40 E.80 poles to a white oak on the above 
mentioned path, So.34 E.56 poles to the beginning --

To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land and premises with and 
singular its appurtenances to him the said Samuel Gilbert and his heirs and 
assigns forever, against the claim of him the said William N. Sharp and his 
heirs and assigns and all and every other person or persons whatsoever 
either in law or equity recovering claiming or having any Just right title 
or Interest therein but do by these presents forever warrant and defend the 
right and title thereof to him the said Samuel Gilbert and his heirs and 
assigns forever -- In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and 
affixed my seal the day and year first above written.

     This Deed of bargain and sale from William N. Sharp to Samuel Gilbert 
with the certificate thereon endorsed, was exhibited in Court, examined, and 
ordered to be recorded.
