THIS INDENTURE made this 17th day of March 1831 between Samuel Sharp of the County of Patrick 
and state of Virginia of the one part and James M. Redd of the same County and state of the 
other part, Witnesseth that whereas Winston Newman by an Indenture of bargain and sale bearing 
date the 27th day of August 1830 sold and Conveyed to the said Samuel Sharp in trust a certain 
tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Patrick and state aforesaid on the 
Waters of the South Mayo river and Containing by estimation one hundred & forty five acres be 
the same more or less and bounded as follows to wit: begining at a white oak in Archilis Hughes 
line thence with the lines and boundries as is laid down in original Patent granted to John Hall
and bearing date 13th day of December 1799 all which is Contained in said Patent a reference 
thereto to be had (except twenty acres which had been taken off previous to the said indenture 
in Trust) to secure a debt due from the said Winston Newman to James M. Redd, and whereas the 
said Saml. Sharp on the 5th day of March 1831 pursuant to the trust aforesaid reposed in him 
having first advertized the time and place of Sale as prescribed in the said Indenture in Trust 
offered the Tract of Land above mentioned to the highest bidder for ready money, and the said 
James M. Redd of the second part became the purchaser for the sum of seventy two dollars.  
Therefore the said Saml. Sharp of the first part for and in Consideration of the said sum of 
Seventy two dollars to him in hand paid, and by Virtue of the Covenant in the said Indenture in 
trust doth bargain and sale to the said James M. Redd and his heirs forever the aforesaid tract 
of Land with all its appurtenances.

To Have and to hold the said tract of Land with the appurtenances unto the said James M. Redd 
and his heirs forever, and the said Saml. Sharp for himself & his heirs doth Covenant with the 
said James M. Redd and his heirs that the said Saml. Sharp for himself and his heirs doth by 
these presents convey to the said James M. Redd and his heirs all the right and Interest Claim 
and demand either in Law or equity which he has acquired under the said Indenture in Trust.  In 
witness whereof the said Samuel Sharp hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day 
and year first above written.

                     This Indenture of bargain and sale from Samuel Sharp to James M. Redd was 
acknowledged in Court by the said Sharp and ordered to be recorded.
