THIS INDENTURE made this 24th day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred 
and thirty two Between Matthew Sandifur appointed Commissioner by the County Court of Patrick 
by a decree of Court in case of Harvey Fitzgerald and other Exor and Devisees of Eliphaz 
Shelton decd. against Hudson Shelton and others made at November Court 1831 of the one part and 
James M. Redd of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said M. Sandifur in conformity to the 
provisions of the said decree and for and in Consideration of the sum of One thousand and five 
dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained 
and sold to the said James M. Redd a Certain tract of Land Containing by estimation two hundred 
acres be the same more or less.  It being the same Land on which the said Eliphaz Shelton decd. 
formerly resided, Situate lying and being in the County of Patrick on both sides of the South 
Mayo River near Patrick Court House and bounded as follows to wit, by whats called the Mill 
branch on the East being a dividing line laid off by the said Commissioner between this tract 
and a tract of 378 acres this day sold by Virtue of the same decree to Colo. A. Staples.  Also 
by the Land of the said Staples, Christopher Clark decd & Jno. C. Staples one hundred acres 
being what is called Shelton's old Tract on the south side of said River and one hundred acres 
(supposed to be) on the North or both sides Thereof, a more particular description of the 
boundaries may be seen by reference to the original deed executed to the said E. Shelton for 
the old Tract and to his patent for 590 acres of which the other hundred acres is a part --

     To have and to hold the said Tract of Land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to 
him the said James M. Redd and his heirs forever, to the only proper use behoof and benefit of 
him the said James M. Redd and his heirs: And the said M. Sandifur for himself and his heirs 
will warrant the tittle of the said Tract of Land to the said James M. Redd and his heirs, free 
from the claim of the said M. Sandifur and his heirs, but does not warrant against the claim of 
any other person or persons -- In witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his 
seal the day and date above, as Commissioner appointed thereto by order of the court aforesaid.

     This Indenture of bargain and sale from M. Sandifur Commissioner acting under a decree of 
the County Court of Patrick, to James M. Redd with the certificate thereon endorsed, was 
presented in Court, examamined and ordered to be recorded.
