Reynolds/Tudor Deed, 1881 - Patrick Co. VA
REYNOLDS TO TUDOR DEED (1881)
Recorded in Deed Book 22, page 224, Patrick County, Virginia.
This deed made the 3d day of Sept. 1881 between H.W. Reynolds and Nancy his
wife of the first part and John Tudor of the other part. Witnesseth that
whereas, H.W. Reynolds has sold John Tudor the land bought by him from Ben J.
Campbell trustee of John G. Lee known as the Stegall land, beginning on the
dividing line between the widoe Lee's dower land and the Stegall land, all
south of that land to the widow Murphy's line thence with her line to
Wilson's former line thence with his line to Henderson Shelton's former line
now John Tudor's, thence with Tudor's line to H.W. Reynolds line thence with
his line to the beginning, containing 157 acres more or less for the sum one
thousand dollars paid to the said Reynolds by the said Tudor the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said Reynolds and wife doth hereby
assign and convey to the said Tudor, his heirs and assigns all their title
interest and claims in the said land and appurtenances and the said parties
of the first part doth hereby agree to entitle the said party of the second
part to warrant generally the title to the aforesaid property hereby
conveyed, this being lands deeded by Ben J. Campbell trustee of John G. Lee
deceased. Witness the followering [sic] signatures and seals this the 3d day
of Sept. one thousand eight hundred and eighty one.

State of Va. County of Patrick to wit:
I, Thos. G. Tatum a notary public in the County of Patrick in the State of
Va. do certify that N.J. Reynolds the wife of H.W. Reynolds whose names are
signed to the writing above bearing date the 3d day of Sept. 1881 did
personally appear before me in the County afforesaid [sic] being examined by
me privately and apart from her husband having the writing afforsaid [sic]
fully explained to her and she the said N.J. Reynolds acknowledged the said
writing to be her act and declared that she had willingly executed the same
and does not wish to retract it. Given under my hand this the 6th day of
Sept. 1881.

To wit, I Thos. G. Tatum a notary public for the County of Patrick in the
State of Va. do certify that H.W. Reynolds whose name is signed to the
writing bearing date Sept. 3d 1881 did personally appear before me in my said
[sic] and acknowledged the above writing to be his act and deed given under
my hand this the 6th day of Sept. 1881.

In Patrick County Court Clerks Office on the 27th day of Sept. 1881 the
foregoing deed with the certificates thereon endorsed was presented and
admitted to record.
