THIS INDENTURE made the 24 day of April In the Year of our Lord Christ One
Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety-four BETWEEN James Poteet Jr. of the
County of Patrick of the one part and Wm. Sharp of the said County of the
other part IN WITNESS whereof the said James Poteet Junr. for and in
Consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Twenty One pounds to him in hand
paid by said William Sharp at or before the Ensealing and Delivery of these
presents the Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged hath Bargained Sold
Released and Confirmed unto the said William Sharp his Heirs and Assigns
forever a Certain Tract piece or parcel of Land Situate lying and being in
the County of Patrick on Gobling Town Creek Containing Seven hundred Acres
more or less and bounded as followeth To wit BEGINING at the Creek at the
Mouth of a Branch Above Hendersons Tobacco Ground Running then up the Branch
to Old line thence with said line Crossing the Road at the pole Bridge
thence down said branch to the Mouth thence up the Creek to a Marked Hornbun
(?) on the said Creek thence Crossing said Creek with a Marked line agreed
on to the Old line along the same to Allens Beginning thence with said line
to include allins Survey to a Line of New Survey made by the aforesaid James
Poteet Jr. and with the lines of the same to include that Survey Running
with the lines of the same to a Whole Oake Corner of the Old Survey and with
the lines of the same to Opposite the Mouth of the Branch of said thence to
the begining Quantity Estimated at 700 acres more or less. With all woods
Ways Water and Water Courses Fences Trees Orchards Houses and all other the
Emoluments Appurtaining or in any wise belonging thereunto To have and to
hold the same to him the said William Sharp his Heirs and Assigns forever
against me my Heirs my Wife and her Heirs or either of us or our Heirs and
all and every other person or persons whatsoever Either in Law or Equity
Recovering Claiming or having any Just Right Title or Estate therein but do
by these presents forever Warrant and defend the Land and premises above
mentioned unto the said William Sharp his heirs and Successors to hold and
fully Enjoy the same In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my Seal the day and year above Written and in the Year of the
Commonwealth --

The Court
At a Court of Quarterly Sessions held for Patrick County on the 24th day of
April 1794
The within written Indenture was acknowledged by the within named James
Poteet Jr. to be his Act and Deed and the same was Ordered to be Recorded by
the Court.
