Elijah Helton to Benjamin Terry
This Indenture made this 16th day of March one thousand eight hundred and
seven between Elijah Helton of the County of Patrick and State of Virginia of
the one part and Benjamin Terry of the same county and State of the other
part, witness the said Elijah Helton for and in consideration of the sum of
fifty pounds to him in hand paid by said Benjamin Terry the receipt
acknowledged hath bargained and sold unto the said Benjamin Terry his heirs
and assigns one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County
of Patrick on the waters of Jacks Creek, containing one hundred and forty two
acres more or less and is bounded as follows to Wit:
Beginning on Conners conditional line at a branch and corner hickory thence
down the said branch as it meanders to a corner ash thence conditional line
to a corner dogwood, thence conditional line to a corner chestnut thence
conditional line to Conners corner chestnut, thence that line to the creek,
thence up the said creek to a corner horn beam, thence conditional line to
Edens old line cornering on a black gum, thence a straight line to a maple on
said creek, below the mill thence conditional line to the beginning hickory
it being the land said Helton bought Benjamin Hubbard. To have and to hold
the same to him the said Benjamin Terry and his heirs forever with all and
Singular rights appertaining in anywise belonging thereto for which I the
said Helton do warrant and forever defend against any person or persons rites
claims or letter in law or witness. This given under my hand and seal this
day and year above mentioned.

Nathaniel N. Helton to Elijah Helton
This Indenture made this 28th day of April in the year of our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and Eight. Between Nathaniel N. Helton of the
County of Patrick and State of Virginia of the one, and Elijah Helton
of the other part, of the County of Patrick and State of Virginia.
Witnesseth: That for and in consideration of the sum of Forty pounds
to him in hand paid. Current money of Virginia in hand paid before the
ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt in hereof is hereby
acknowledged, hath Consigned, sold and Confirmed unto the said Elijah
Helton his heirs [& assigns] One certain tract or parcel of land.
Situate, lying and being in the County of aforesaid. Containing 10
hundred acres [100 ac. See Helton to Handy DB 5, p:72] more or less,
and bounded as follows to wit. Beginning at a line org in Watsons line
thence new lines So. 40 E 22 po. To a chestnut tree So. 63 E 68 po. To
a Spanish oak So. 53 E to Spanish oak in John Nevells line with the
said line to the conditional line, thence to the beginning. The same to
the said Elijah Helton his heirs [& assigns].
With all woods, water and water courses, trees, orchards, houses,
fences and all other the embodiments thereunto belonging or in anywise
appertaining.
To have and to hold the same unto the sd. Elijah Helton, his heirs [&
assigns] with its appurtenances to hold and fully enjoy the same, and
so for myself my heirs [& assigns] forever warrant and defend the right
and title, of the land and premises to him the said Elijah Helton, and
his heirs forever, against the claims or demand of any person, or
persons whatever either in law or Equity. In witness whereof I have
hereto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written.

THIS Indenture made & entered into this 16th day of November 1808. Between Lewis Hancock &
Salah [sic] his wife of the County of Franklin State of Virginia John A. Hancock & Sarah his
wife of the County of Patrick and state aforesaid jointly of the one part, and William Lyon of
the County of Patrick and State of Virginia of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Lewis
and John A. Hanock for and in consideration of the sum of ninety two pounds to them in hand
paid at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the recept whereof is hereby
acknowledged hath bargd. sold released & Confirmed unto the said Wm Lyon his heirs and assigns
forever one certain tract piece or parcel of land situate lying and Being in the County of
Patrick on the waters of Sycamore Creek containing one hundred acres more or less and bounded
as followeth to wit, Begining at the road north of the plantation on Richardson Mayos line
begins thence with the same along the road across the creek to a mahogany tree thence south up
the hill to the back line thence the same line to the creek at the mouth of a litte Branch
thence up the creek to the mouth of a Big branch Known by the name of of Luke Foleys branch
thence up the same to a marked line made by John Hancock decd. & Lewis Hancock to the Branch
again thence up the same as it meanders to the line of Stephen Akers decd. thence with said
Akers line to Marvil Bouldings line thence along Benjamin Mayo line to the Begining with all
woods ways water and water courses fences trees, houses Orchards and all other the emoluments
appurtaining or In any wise belonging thereunto to have and to hold the same to Him the said
Wm. Lyon his heirs and assigns forever against us and our heirs and all and every person or
persons whatsoever either in law or equity recovering claiming or having any Just Right title
or estate therein but do by these presents forever warrant and defend the above mentioned land
& premises to him the Wm. Lyon his heirs and successors to hold and fully enjoy the same. In
witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals, the day and year above
written.

Lewis & John Hancock By this certain Indenture of Bargain & Sale bearing date [left blank] day
of [left blank] 1806 have sold & conveyed unto William lion a tract of [left blank] acres of
Land in Patrick County and whereas the the Said Celia the wife of Lewis & Sarah the wife of
John Cannot Conveniently Travel to the County Court of Patrick to make their acknowledgement of
Said Conveyance therefore we do give unto you or any two or More of you Power to receive the
acknowledgment which the Said Celia & Sarah Shall be Willing to make Before you of the
Conveyance aforesaid Contained in the Said Indenture which is hereto annexed & we do therefore
Command you that you do personally go to the the Said Celia & Sariah & receive their
acknowledgment of said Conveyance & examine them privily and apart from the said Lewis & John
Hancock their Husbands Whether She doth the same freely and Voluntarily without persuasions or
threats & wheather She be Willing that the Same Should be recorded in our Said Court of Patrick
and when you have received the acknowledgment aforesaid that you Distinctly (?) and opely
Certify as thereof in Our Said Court under your Seals Sending then there said Indenture & this
Writ Witness Saml Staples Clerk of our Said Court this 31st day of Jany. 1811 in the 35th year
of the Common Wealth

In obedience to the Above Commission to us decreed we have have personally Wated on the above
Named Celia and Sariah Hancock wives of the above named Lewis & John and Examined them Privily
and apart from the said Lewis & John their Husbands & She the Said Celia & Sariah acknowledged
the Indenture hereto annexed the act & deed & Declared that she do the Same freely &
Voluntarily Without the persuasions or threats of their Husbands also Relinquish their Right of
Dower in the land and premises Above Conveyed By the said deed and is Willing that the same
with this their acknowledgement Should be recorded in the Said Court of Patrick we the
Subscribers Having Previously read the Said deed & explained the purport thereof to the said
Given under our hands & Seals this fifth day of Feby. 1811

This Indenture made this 25th of April in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred & ten between Samuel Helton of the one part of the County of
Patrick and Isham Harris of said County of the other part witenesseth that in
& for the consideration of the sum of eighty pounds to him the said Samuel
Helton in hand paid, hath bargained sold & released _____ unto the said John
[Isham] Harris a certain tract or parcel of land containing Fifty eight acres
situate, lying & being in the County of Patrick on the branches of Gills
[Jills] Creek & bounded as follows:
To wit. Beginning at Smalls corner block on the top of a mountain thence new
lines South 33 degrees W thirty eight poles to a poplar, S twenty degrees ___
One hundred & six poles to a hickory, N eighty two degrees East sixteen poles
to a chestnut oak, N sixty degrees East eighty eight poles to pointers N
twenty eight degrees West twenty two poles crossing a small branch to Smalls
corner poplar, thence with the line North fifty seven degrees West one
hundred & ninety poles crossing two small branches to the beginning, to have
& to hold the same unto the said Isham Harris his heirs & assigns forever the
said tract or parcel of land with all the woods, water way courses, fences
houses ___.
I bind myself my heir's ____ to make a good and lawful right unto the said
Isham Harris his heir's _____. The said Samuel Helton has released unto the
said Isham Harris all claims title ___ this 25th day of April in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred & ten. Signed & tested.

This Indenture made this 24th day of April in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred & eleven between Nathaniel Helton of the County
of Patrick and State of Virginia of the one part & John Tuggle of said
county of the other part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of
the sum of sixty five pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand
paid before the ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained sold released &
confirmed unto the said John Tuggle of said County one certain tract or
parcel of land situate lying & being County aforesaid on the waters of
Jack Creek containing one hundred acres be the same more or less & is
bounded as followith to Wit.
Beginning on a hickory running with Wards old line to a corner ash,
thence a straight line to a corner chestnut, thence a new conditional
line, straight line to the creek, corners on an oak thence down the
creek to the old conditional line. Corner on a ash thence running with
the old conditional line and corners on a maple, thence open line to a
poplar, thence up the branch to a hickory the beginning be the same
more or less to him.
To him the said Tuggle to have & to hold with all woods ways water &
water courses trees orchards houses fences & all other embodiments here
unto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the same
unto the said John Tuggle above named with its appurtenances to hold
and fully enjoy the same. I do for myself my heirs & assigns forever
warrant & defend the right & title of the land & premises to him the
said John Tuggle & his heirs forever against the claims or demands of
any person or persons whatever in law or equity in Witness where of I
have hereunto set my hand and offered my seal this the day & year above
written.

This Indenture made the 17th day of December in the year of our Lord 1811
between Samuel Helton, John Agee & Isham Harris of one part & of the County
of Patrick & Jesse Stith of said County of the other part. Witnesseth that in
& for the sum of eighty pounds to them the said Sam Helton, John Agee & Isham
Harris in hand paid, hath bargained sold & released unto the said Jesse Stith
a certain tract or parcel of land containing sixty three acres it being the
same more or less lying on the head waters of Gills [Jills] creek in the
County of Patrick. Beginning on a black walnut in the gap of the mountain
called Darcasy nob, thence running on top of said ridge to a big black rock,
thence down the hill to a Spanish oak corner, thence to a corner dogwood in
Smalls line, thence along said line to a chestnut corner in said line, thence
new line to a Spanish oak on the head of a branch, thence down said branch as
it meanders to a black gum corner, thence nearly straight line to the
beginning. To have and to hold the same unto the said Jesse Stich his heirs &
assigns forever the said tract or parcel of land with all woods, ways, water,
fences, houses, orchards ______. We bind ourselves, our heirs ______ to make
a good & lawful right & title unto the said Jesse Stith, his heirs _____. The
said Sam Helton, John Agee & Isham Harris has released unto the said Jesse
Stith all claims, titles ____ this 17th day of December 1811. Given under our
hands & sealed with our seals.
