Penn/Sharp Deed, 1794

Grantor: Abraham Penn
Grantee: Robert Sharp
Date: 3 October 1794

THIS INDENTURE made the 3rd day of Octr. in the Year of our Lord Christ 1794 Between Abraham 
Penn of the Cty of Patrick of the one part & Robt. Sharp of sd. Cty of the other part IN WITNESS
whereof the said Abraham Penn for and in Consideration of the Sum of Five Pounds to him in hand 
paid by the said Robt. Sharp at or before the ensealing and delivery of these Presents the 
Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged Hath Bargained Sold Released and Confirmed unto the said 
Robt. Sharp his Heirs and assigns forever a Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situated lying and 
being in the Cty of Patrick on Blackbury Containing fifty One Acres more or less and bounded as 
followeth to Wit BEGINING on the North Side of Bull Mountain Road at a Chesnut tree thence a 
North Course to a post Oak in the Patent Line of said Penns thence a Westerly Course along said 
Line thence with his Line to the sd Road thence down sd road to Begining With all Woods ways 
Water and Water Courses Fences trees Orchards Houses and all other the Emoluments Appertaining 
or in any wise belonging thereunto to have and to hold the same to him the said Robt. Sharp his 
Heirs and assigns forever Agt. me my Heirs my Wife and her Heirs or Either of us or our heirs 
and all and every other Person or Persons whatsoever either in Law or Equity Recovering Claiming
or having any Just right Title or Estate therein and so by by these Presents forever Warrant and
Defend the Land and Premises above mentioned to the said Robt. Sharp his Heirs and Successors to
hold and fully Enjoy the same.  In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my 
Seal the day and year above Written & in the 19th Year of the ComWealth.

At a Court of Quarterly Sessions held for Patrick County on the 30th day of April 1795
     The within Written Indenture was Acknowledged by the within Named Abraham Penn to be his

THIS INDENTURE made this 22nd day of February in the year of our Lord Christ 
One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Six Between Robert Hall of the County  
of Patrick of the one part and Robert Sharp of Said County of the other part 
In Witness whereof the said Robert Hall for and in Consideration of the Sum  
of Forty Five Pounds to him in hand paid by the sd Robert Sharp at or before 
the Ensealing and delivery of these Presents the Receipt whereof is hereby  
Acknowledged hath Bargained Sold Released and Confirmed unto the said Robert 
Sharp his Heirs and assigns forever a Certain Tract Piece or Parcel of Land  
Situate lying and being in the County of Patrick on the Waters of Russels  
Creek Containing One hundred acres more or less and bounded as follows to  
wit Begining at a Black Gum one of Hudsons Corners in the Original Patent  
thence South Fifty Five and a half Degrees East Fifty Five poles Crossing  
two Branches to a White Oak North Eight degrees East one hundred and Twenty  
five Poles Crossing a Branch to a Black Oak thence North Thirty Six degrees  
West Continued on Same line to 2 White Oaks Marked by the Parties thence a  
South Course on a line marked by the Parties - Cross the said Land to the  
outside line to a sourwood marked as aforesaid and thence with the Old line  
as it meanders to the Begining it being a part of the Land the said Hall now 
lives on Purchased and Conveyed from Joshua Hudson to the said Hall  With  
all woods Ways Water and Water Courses Fences Trees orchards houses and all  
other the Emoluments Appertaining or in any wise belonging thereunto To have 
and to hold the same to him the said Robert Sharp his heirs and assigns  
forever Against me my heirs my Wife Nancey and her Heirs or either of us or  
our heirs and all and every other Person or Persons Whatsoever either in Law 
or Equity Recovering __? Claiming or having any Just Title or Estate therein 
but do by these presents forever Warrant and defend the Land and Premises  
above mentioned to the said Robert Sharp his heirs and Successors to hold  
and fully enjoy the same

THIS INDENTURE made this 16th day of November in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven 
hundred and ninty Six Between Robert Hall of the County of Patrick of the one part and John 
Sharp of the said County of the other part In Witness Whereof the said Robert Hall for and in 
Consideration of the sum of Twenty Pounds to him in hand paid by the said John Sharp the 
Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged hath Bargained Sold Released and Confirmed unto the said
John Sharp his Heirs and Assigns forever a certain Tract Piece or Parcel of Land lying and 
being in the County Aforesaid on the head Waters of Russels Creek Containing One hundred acres
more or Less and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a Corner White Oak in Robert Sharps 
line Running thence with the Old line a North West course to a White Oak thence with the said 
Old line Patented in Joshua Hudsons Name a West course to another corner thence with the sd 
line a South course to a Sorrelwood in Robert Sharps line thence with his line to the Beginning 
it being the Same Land Sold by John Hall to John Sharp Jr. and also Settled by the said Hall 
With all woods ways Water and Water courses Fences houses etc all other the Emoluments 
Appertaining or in any wise belongin thereunto to have and to hold the same to him the said 
John Sharp his heirs and assigns forever Against me my Heirs and Assigns and all and every 
other Person or Persons Whatsoever in Law or Equity Recovering Claiming or having any Just Rite 
Title or Estate therein but do by these presents Warrant and defend the Land And Premises above
mentioned to him the said John Sharp and his Successors to hold and fully enjoy the same

Harris/Harris Deed, 1798 - Patrick Co. VA


Patrick Co. DB 1, p. 621 - Samuel Harris to James Harris Deed - 1798

This Indenture made and entered into this Seventh day of December in the year 
of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and ninety Eight Between Samuel Harris 
of Patrick County of the one part and James Harris of the same County of the 
other part.  Witnesseth: that the said Samuel Harris hath bargained and sold 
a Certain Tract of land to James Harris of the County aforesaid containing 
Seventy acres the same be it more or less for and in consideration of forty 
pounds to the said Samuel Harris in hand paid, the land being and lying on 
the waters of Jacks Creek and bounded as followeth viz:  Beginning upon a 
Chesnut tree on Darkeys Nob Joining of Henry Thompson thence down the ridge 
to a Chesnut Oak thence to a Dogwood on Jack's Creek thence up the Creek to a 
Will Walnut joining Thompson's line thence to Corner Chesnut tree on Darkey's 
Nob and do warrant and forever defend the said Tract or parcel of land to the 
said James Harris his Exec's Administrators or assigns.  In witness whereof I 
do hereby set my hand and seal this Seventeenth day of December in the year 
of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Eight.

    The within written Indenture was proved by the oath of one of the 
witnesses thereto to be the act and Deed of the within named Samuel Harris 
and the same was ordered to be Certified by the Court.

    And afterwards towit, at Patrick August Court the same was further proven 
by the Oaths of two other witnesses thereto to be the act and Deed of the 
within named Samuel Harris and the same was ordered to be recorded by the 
Court.
