Deed to Jesse Harrold from Joseph Boyd
          Patrick County, Virginia, 1820


This Indenture made this 15th day of April in the year of our Lord and Christ 
1820 Between Joseph Boyd of Patrick County, Virginia, and Jesse Harrold of 
the County of Grayson of the other part, in witnesseth whereof the said 
Joseph Boyd for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars 
current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Jesse Harrold at or 
before the unsealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is 
hereby acknowledged, hath bargained sold Released and conferred unto the said 
Jesse Harrold and his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract parcel or 
piece of land situate lying and being in the County of Patrick on the waters 
of Johnson's Creek containing twenty eight acres and as followeth to wit: 
Beginning at a poplar in his own line thence more lines W30 E140 poles to a 
Chestnut S20 W24 poles to a chestnut oak W33 E40 poles to a chestnut, S27 E53 
poles to a side ?  S and E58 poles to pointing N53 30 W18 poles to a chestnut 
N5 W92 poles to a chestnut W40 poles to a chestnut S60 W30 poles to pointers 
S14 W34 poles to a chestnut S35 W30 poles to a chestnut oak S13 W64 poles to 
a chestnut oak S56 E31 poles to a Lyn? on a branch thence down the same  ?  
meandering to the beginning, all woods, ways, water, and water courses and 
all other the Emoluments appertaining in any wise belonging thereunto to have 
and to hold the same to him the said Jesse Harrold his heirs and assigns 
forever against claiming or ? ? ? or Estate therein, but do by these presents 
warrant, and defend the said land above mentioned to him the said Jesse 
Harrold his heirs and successors to hold and fully enjoy the same, in witness 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year 
above written.

Note: Jesse Harrold is identified as Jesse Harrold, son of William Harrold 
and Frances Sturnam, grandson of Jonathan Harrold and Catherine Hiatt, and 
g-grandson of Richard Harrold and Mary Beals. He married Mary East November 
13, 1811 in Patrick County.
