NOTE: Possibly more than two GILBERT BOWMANS were in Patrick county
between 1800 and 1848 and I suspect not all these deeds were from and by the
same GILBERT. GILBERT and LUCY BOWMAN ware married in 1805 yet don't appear
on a deed together until 1830. Except for the 1840 deed, nowhere does
GILBERT and RUTH appear on a deed together. In 1840, GILBERT BOWMAN of
Stokes county is renting land on the Little Dan, and does a deed of trust
for his horse and silver watch to pay the rent.
