McAlexander/Lyon Slave Gift Deed, 1826

Grantor: John McAlexander
Grantee: Milly Lyon
Date: 7th September 1826


     Know all men by these presents that I John Mc.alexander of Patrick 
County and state of Virginia for divers considerations to me thereunto 
moving but more especially for the love I bear to my daughter Milly Lyon and
for the further consideration of the sum of One dollar to me paid at and 
before the enseling and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is 
hereby acknowledged I have given and delivered and do by these presents give
and and deliver unto my said daughter Milly Lyon and the heirs of her body 
forever One Negroe Girl by the name of Lucy aged two years with her future 
increase and to the said Negroe Lucy and Increase I will warrant and defend 
a full and complete title free from any let or hindrance or free from the 
Lawful Claim or Claims of any person or persons whatsoever claiming said 
Negroe.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal 
September 7t. in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty 
six.

                                                  This deed of Gift from 
John Mc.alexander __ to Milly Lyon an other heirs of her body was 
acknowledged by the said Mc.alexander ___ to be his act and deed and 
admitted to record.
