PATRICK COUNTY DEED BOOK 43, PAGE 369 AND 370
THIS DEED, Made this 23rd of August in the year one thousand nine hundred and
seventeen, between T.I. Elgin and Julia L. Elgin, his wife, parties of the first
part, and Peter Martin, party of the second part,
W I T N E S S E TH
That in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, cash in
hand paid by the party of the second part to the parties of the first part, the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said parties of the first part do
grant until the said party of the second part with Special Warranty, all that
one certain tract of land situated in Patrick County, Virginia, on Smith's
River, and containing 30 acres, more or less, and is known as the G.W. Moran
place, and was obtained by the said T.I. Elgin by purchase when the said tract
of land was sold by a decree of the Circuit Court of Patrick County in 1916, and
bounded by Smith River, and the lands of Thos. Moran, decd.
The said first parties covenant that they have the right to convey the said
land to the grantee; that they have done no act to encumber the said land; that
the grantee shall have quiet possession of the said land, free from all
encumbrances, and that they the said parties of the first part, will execute
such further assurance of the said land as may be requisite.

State of Virginia, County of Patrick, to wit:
I, S.J. Pilson, a Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid, in the State
of Virginia, do certify that T.I. Elgin and Julia L. Elgin, whose names are
signed to the foregoing writing, bearing date on the 23rd day of August, 1917,
have acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid.
Given under my hand this 23rd day of August, 1917.

In the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court the 6th day of September, 1917,
this deed was presented and with the certificate annexed, admitted to record at
