WALKER, James L. et ux

  This deed made this 21st day of January, 1942, by and between James L. Walker 
And Annie Walker, his wife, parties of the first part and Charlie B. Martin, 
party of the second part:

                               WITNESSETH

  That for and in consideration of the sum of $1000 paid and payable as follows, 
to-wit:

  $500 paid and $500 payable on the ______ day of ______ 194___, as evidenced by 
a certain note executed by the said Charlie B. Martin and wife and payable to 
James L. Walker and it is expressly understood and agreed that a vendor's lien 
is retained on the land herein conveyed until paid for in full.

  The said parties of the first part doth grant and convey to the said party of 
the second part two certain tracts or parcels of land located in the County of 
Patrick, in Smith's River Magisterial District and described as follows, to-wit:

  Tract No. One:  All of that certain lot or parcel of land lying and being in 
Patrick County, Virginia, on the waters of little Goblintown Creek, in Smith 
River Magisterial District, which is known as the "storehouse lot" and bounded 
as follow, to-wit:  Beginning on a bunch of white oak sprouts or saplings on 
public road, thence running south of storehouse, supposed southwest corner 40 or 
50 yards to a planted rock corner thence, West 30 feet to a sycamore stump, 
thence Northwest supposed 20 yards to public road, thence supposed East course 
to the beginning containing 1/4 acre, more or less.  This being the same tract 
of land, that was conveyed to John I. Wood by John L. Wood and Della Wood by a 
deed dated July 8th, 1932, which is of record in the Clerk's Office of Patrick 
County, Virginia, in Deed Book No. 61 at page No. 278.

  Tract No. Two:  All of that certain tract of parcel of land lying and being in 
Patrick County, State of Virginia, situated on the waters of Little Goblintown 
Creek in Smith River Magisterial District, and known as the "Hall Mill Site", 
together with the mill and all appurtenances thereunto belonging, containing 
five acres, more or less.   This being the tract of land that was conveyed to 
John I. Wood by H.H. Hall, Sr. by a deed dated March 24, 1911, which deed is of 
record in the Clerk's Office of Patrick County, Virginia, in Deed Book No. 38 at 
page No. 395.  For a more accurate and complete description of said land 
reference is here made to the aforesaid deed.

  This conveyance is made with covenants of general warranty of title.  The said 
parties of the first part covenant that they have the right to convey the said 
tracts of land to the said party of the second part, that they have done no act 
to encumber the said land; that the said grantee shall have quiet and peaceful 
possession of the said tracts free and clear for all encumbrance, and that they 
will execute such further assurances of the said lands as may be requisite.

  STATE OF VIRGINIA, County of Patrick, to-wit:

      I, John D. Taylor, Deputy for J.S. Taylor, Clerk do certify that James L. 
Walker and Annie Walker, his wife, whose names are signed to the above deed, 
bearing date on the 21st day of January, 1942, personally appeared before me in 
my County and State aforesaid, acknowledged the same.

             Given under my hand this 23rd day of February, 1942.

VIRGINIA--Patrick County, to-wit:

        In the Clerk's office of Patrick Circuit Court, the 23rd day of Feb. 
1942, this Deed was presented and with the certificate annexed, admitted to 
record at 11 o'clock A.M.
