MARTIN, Peter

  This deed, made this 19th day of May, 1922, between Peter Martin, of the 
County of Patrick, and State of Virginia, party of first part, and Charlie B. 
Martin, of the County and State aforesaid, party of the second part,

                             WITNESSETH

  That for and in consideration of the sum of FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($450) 
cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said party of 
first part doth grant until the said party of the second part with covenants of 
general warranty, all of a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in 
Patrick County, Virginia, on the waters of Puppy Creek, adjoining the lands of 
W.A. Via, Peter Martin, and Charlie B. Martin, containing seven and one-half 
acres, more or less, and bounded as follows:

  BEGINNING at a corner stone at the ford of the creek on S.W. side of public 
road; thence up the creek as it meanders S. 73 1/2 W. 5 1/2 poles; S. 30 W. 5 
poles; S. 56 W. 10 3/5 poles S. 27 W. 7 poles; S. 6 W. 7 1/2 poles; S. 62 W. 7 
poles; S. 27 1/2 W. 9 1/2 poles; S. 44 W. 14 1/2 poles to a corner hornbeam on 
bank of creek; thence leaving the creek N. 87 1/2 E. 13 1/2 poles to a corner 
rock just above another large; N. 67 1/2 E. 47 1/2 poles to a corner stone on 
the public road; thence down the road as its meanders N. 40 E. 3 1/2 poles; N. 
19 W. 9 1/2 poles; N. 49 W. 5 1/2 poles; N. 58 W. 11-4/5 poles; N. 11 W. 8 poles 
to the beginning.

  Said lane being the same tract conveyed to the said Peter Martin by Taylor A. 
Wright by deed dated on the 6th day of February, 1922.

  The said party of the first part reserves the right to use water from the 
spring on the above described tract of land.

  The said first party covenants that he has the right to convey the said land 
to the grantee; that he has done no act to encumber the said land; that the 
grantee shall have quiet possession of the said land, free from all 
encumbrances, and that he, the said party of the first part, will execute such 
further assurance of the said land as may be requisite.

  Witness the following signature and seal.

  County of Patrick, to wit:

       I, Thos. E. Bryant, a notary public in and for the county aforesaid, in 
the State of Virginia, do certify that Peter Martin, whose name is signed to the 
foregoing writing, bearing date on the 19th of May, 1922, has acknowledged the 
same before me in my county aforesaid.  

         Given under my hand, this 19th day of May, 1922.

VIRGINIA--Patrick County, To-wit:

  In the clerk's office of Patrick Circuit Court, the 4th day of Oct. 1949, this 
deed was presented and with the certificate annexed, admitted to record at 3
