Recorded in the Patrick County Circuit Court Clerk's Office on August 2, 1880 in 
Deed Book 22, Page 35.

  This deed made this the 2nd day of August 1880 between Charles J. Martin and 
Susan A. his wife of the one part and Wade A. Emberson of the other part 
witneforth that the said C.J. Martin and Susan A. his wife have bargained and 
sold to the said Wade A. Emberson a certain tract or parcel of land situated, 
lying, and being in the County of Patrick on the waters of Smith's River, 
containing one hundred acres more or less for an in consideration of the sum of 
three hundred and twenty five dollars, Beginning on a lin stump on Smith's River 
at the mouth of a branch thence with the said branch to the head spring, thence 
to the top of the hill to a white oak in the old Sparrel Janney line, thence 
along the said line to pointers in Wm. Holley's line and Sparrel Janney's line, 
thence along Wm Holley's old line to a Spanish oak thence S32 E to a Dogwood 
thence S 68 E 54 poles to a Hickory on the River, thence up the River as it 
meanders to the beginning--Now in Charles J. Martin and Susan A., his wife doth 
bind ourselves heirs and to warrant and defend a good and lawful right and title 
to said land forever to the said Wade A. Emberson and his heirs and title to 
said land forever to the said Wade A. Emberson and his heirs.
             It is agreed by the parties in this deed that the land hereby 
conveyed shall be bound for the balance of the purchase money Nineth one dollars 
and sixty six cents due 1st day of February, 1881 and nintety one dollars and 
sixty cents due 1st of February 1882 and ninety one dollars and sixty six cents 
due the 1st day of February, 1883, And the said Charles J. Martin and Susan his 
wife do hereby agree that the said Wade A. Emberson shall have quiet possession 
of said trace of land in fee simple.
             Witness the following signature and seals.

   Patrick County to wit
              I. J.A. Burnette a Commissioner in Chancery of the Circuit Court 
of said County that Charles J. Martin whose name is signed to the foregoing deed 
bearing date and on the 2nd day of August 1880 has acknowledged the same before 
me in my County aforesaid I further certify that Susan A. Martin Wife of the 
said Charles J. Martin whose names are signed to the foregoing deed bearing date 
as aforesaid personally appeared before me in my County aforesaid, and being 
examined by me personally and apart from her said husband and having the deed 
aforesaid fully explained to her.   She the said Susan A. Martin acknowledged 
the same to be her act,and declared that she had willingly executed the same and 
does not wish to retract it.
                       Given under my hand this 9th day of October, 1880.

                                               This deed conveying land from 
Chas. J. Martin and wife to Wade A. Emberson with Commissioner in Chancery 
thereto was this day presented and admitted to record.
